I think our defense is going to be good with Gregg Williams running the show. I also think that our secondary has been upgraded substantially. Darren Sharper, Jabari Greer, Tracy Porter, Malcom Jenkins, Jason David, Usama Young, Roman Harper, Chip Vaughn, Pierson Proileaux, Randall Gay and then you sprinkle in a little Jonathan Vilma.....I think that's plenty for Gregg Williams to work with. I think this defense will suprise this year.
Well let's see. The team won 8 games with the defense they had last year. This included a defense headed up by Gary Gibbs and had half its starters injured for significant time. Given the improvements to the secondary and the new DC, yeah, I feel pretty confident in saying he's wrong. I see no reason to suddenly think they'll do worse than last year.
If thats your litmus test, then we are in for a long season once again. Once again, I'll believe it when I see it regarding the defense.
Im not underestimating him at all, I was responding to the comment from DarkHonet. Not you. I believe Williams will make the Defense better, but Id love to see it first.
What's hard to believe? We did IN FACT win 8 games LAST year with the defense we already had. He says that this defense won't be able to win 8 games... the only way that could possibly be true would be if the defense got worse, right? However, not only did the defense not get worse, it got a lot better. - Gary Gibbs, + Gregg Williams + Jabari Greer to start in place of Jason David + A healthy Tracy Porter + Darren Sharper in place of Josh Bullocks. Name me one place on defense where we downgraded? The comment by Peter King was ill-informed and stupid, and I'm surprised anyone would agree with him? How do you come to your conclusion?
Yep, all of that looks good on paper. But it has to translate to the field which hasnt happened in a long time for my Saints. All of those +++++ doesnt =wins. Seeing is believing.
