Where Simon - who Trosclair said runs a consistent 4.5 in the 40-yard dash - will play at the college level is still in question, which is why recruiting services list him as an athlete recruit. As a junior at Eunice, the second team All-Acadiana selection as a cornerback had 75 tackles, five interceptions and 10 pass breakups. In the Bobcats' Wing-T offense, he had 18 receptions for 227 yards and three touchdowns.

Trosclair feels Simon is a natural for a safety position, and is actually moving him to free safety for his senior season.

"Tharold is just a great instinctive player, especially on defense. He's just a natural," Trosclair said of the Bobcats' first major college prospect since offensive lineman Trey Langley signed with LSU in 1997. "He runs as well on the field as anyone we've had in my 14 years (as head coach at Eunice). But both sides of the ball like him, so we'll see how everything plays out."
