I wouldn't expect him to land at A&M. I think it comes down to OU and LSU in the end. If distance becomes the biggest factor for him then it would be a OU/A&M battle.

We still need to get him on campus.

All over the place as I thought...he'll visit LSU and call us the new leader, just like Michigan/A&M. Playing us, he'll end up in the Big Ten, IMO.

LSU, OU, Texas, A&M, and Stanford made it into his top 5.

As I thought he is mainly keeping it close to home.

We still need to get him on campus and I hope he will make it to the July Camp.

Texas and LSU did not make his top 3.

THe number of guys we are landing, specifically Maclin for LSU, are pointing his attention elsewhere.

I think it is Lewis to LSU and we are done at LB.

Oh well, aslong as we get Lewis I will be pretty happy with the Lb group in this class.

(Add Andy Rooney's voice if you like) Did you ever notice that right after we take a lesser recruited athlete at a position when we have premier guys still in play we find out later on this board that they have soured on us. It happens a lot.

"Last one there gets the rotten egg !!"

The lesser ranked guys realize that by playing on a TEAM like LSU, they will be surrounding themselves with other quality players that will actually make them better and make them look even better to the pro scouts.

The premier guys often think that they will look better to the pro scouts by being so much better than their teammates. They may sour on us because we're offering the lesser rated guys and their feelings may be hurt by that. We may not be telling them how great they are and how we just can't do without them like competing schools are.

Go back and look at the recruiting classes for the last 8 years or so and you'll find that the "higher ranked" guys have about a 50/50 shot at living up to the hype and MANY, MANY "lower ranked" guys turn out to be studs.

The rankings are about potential. Not everyone lives up to theirs, and conversely some folks don't bloom until they get the right coaching and mature a bit more.

I'm not sure ya'll are getting my point. What I am saying is that us fans are out the loop by at least a few days. The coaches probably already knew Nelson was not responding to our love before the announcement. He may have told them flat out that he wasn't interested anymore before his public statement. So we probably pursued other athletes knowing we are unlikely to get him.
