The issue with young backs is usually that they haven't learned to read defenses and pick up the unblocked defender on the blitz. SEC-caliber running backs have to be able to pass block and occasionally run-block for another back. Freshmen used to being a feature back need some experience with this before coaches put them in pressure situations. Hopefully the game will allow Les to play several youngsters in situations where a mistake won't cripple us.
