Okie asked me about this a few weeks ago and according to the roster here they are:

Michael Casanova FB 6-1 210 Fr. RS Crowley, La. (Notre Dame HS)
Jarrett Hardnett LB 6-2 220 So. TR Baton Rouge, (Woodlawn HS/Northwestern St.)
Hunter Kinchen WR 6-0 187 Fr. HS Baton Rouge, La. (Dunham)
Seth Mannon PK 6-4 200 Fr. HS Houston, Texas (Episcopal HS)
Connor Neighbors LB 6-0 210 Fr. HS Huntsville, Ala. (Huntsville HS)
Jeremy Peeples DE 6-2 239 Fr. RS Selma, Ala. (Selma HS)
Nick Rice LB 6-1 212 Fr. RS Coppell, Texas (Coppell HS)
Jason Slaydon FB 5-10 215 Fr. RS Westlake, La. (Westlake HS)
Chris Wells DB 5-11 186 Fr. RS Frierson, La. (DeSoto HS)

Hunter Kinchen is Brian's son. Austin Kinchen walked on last year and is also a son of Brian. Gus from the 1958 team is their grandfather.

I assume Michael Casanavo is related to Tommy but not one of his kids.

BHelm, or anybody else who knows, clarify a few things about walk-on's and availability. Walk-on's don't count against the 85 unless they earn a scholly at some point, right? What is the max number of players, scholly or no scholly, a team can have again? I want to say 105 for some reason.

From your attrition thread, it seems like the last two years we have lost some rising talent, so do you think any of these guys have true shots at making the team and actually seeing PT? You gotta pull for guys like this who want to be a part of the LSU football program and are willing to work their butts off while paying their own way to attend the school. I know it is not necessarily how a championship team is built talent-wise, but the attitude, work ethic, and loyalty players like that bring can be a very positive influence, I would think.

Correct, they do not count toward the 85 and the limit is 105.

Scholarships are offered on a year by year basis and therefore some earn scholarships if under the 85 limit for any given year. Most of these guys will never be on scholarship and do not know much about these guys to say for sure that none of them to earn one. But someone like K Seth Mannon would be the best bet if he becomes a prominent part of the team.

But most will be practice squad members their whole college career.

There are also limits set by the NCAA on how many can dress for home games and how many can travel for away games. Walk-ons rarely dress or travel unless called on in a crunch.

I also noticed something kind of ironic. Instead of signing DT Dexter Blackmon we end up with his teammate DE Jeremy Peeples.

Did Blackmon not have the grades or something? Is LSU even thinking of signing him when he does have the grades?

Pretty sure it was a grade thing tied in with a numbers thing. Staff probably didn't want to add another to the list of guys who have work to do to get cleared. Not sure where he is going or any of his plans or LSU's plans.
