Re: 2011 RB Terrance Magee COMMITS TO LSU!!!!

He is kind of nuts if he thinks Alabama doesn't have many RBs.
They are pretty loaded, Eddie Lacy is going to be riding the pine for probably 3 years.
Ingram will probably be gone after next year but then all the rest basically remain.

I mean Ingram will be senior when this guy is a freshman even though Ingram will probably be onto the NFL.

    by 2011
    - Ingram (Sr)
    - Richardson (Jr)
    - Marrow (Jr)
    - Goode (Sr)
    - Lacy (So.)-RS

    2010 Class
    - Grant
    - Fowler (not sure if he will play FB)

Alabama will probably need 2-3 RBs in this class 2011 if they don't pick up anymore in 2010.

    Just watched some of the:

Rivals High School Game of the Week

#1 in Louisiana 4A Salmen (#42 in the USA by Rivals)
    at
#2 in Louisiana 4A Franklinton (#75 in the USA by Rivals)

    Featuring:

Salmen's QB, Kansas State commit Daniel Sams (Rivals 3 Star, #42 ATH)

Franklinton's QB, LSU commit Terrance Magee (Rivals 3 Star, #40 ATH)

Franklinton's RB, Miss State commit Josh Robinson (Rivals 3 Star, #49 RB)

Keep in mind that I only saw chunks of the 4th quarter, but none of the above three looked like men among boys... and of the above three, Terrance was the least impressive as a RB recruit. The K-State commit, Sams, was like Terrance... an ATH playing QB, but Sams looked more athletic than Terrance and had some good runs.

As for Terrance, he was throwing most of the time and I didn't see him have any good runs. When he did run, I couldn't see anything special except for one flash where he showed some good acceleration and another flash where he showed some good fluidity, but in both cases he got tackled by the very first defender near him for a short gain. From the tiny sample size I saw of Terrance today, he looked like he could develop into a guy that is doing as good as Richard Murphy this year as a senior for LSU (after 8 games: 1.46 yards per carry on 13 attempts and 29 yards receiving on 6 catches).

As for the Miss State commit, that guy is Ridley-type RB and looked pretty good in the game (moving the pile, breaking tackles, getting yards after contact after they should have had him down). Basically, it was Terrance passing and the Miss State commit doing the rushing.

I missed the scoring highlights they showed at the end of the game, but I was able to see the other highlights they showed as they were doing the end-of-game credits, and it showed the Miss State commit having all these great runs, and it showed the K-State commit having some good runs, but it didn't show anything of Terrance.

However, Terrance was pretty good at QB in the game. Going into the 4th Quarter, his team was down by 7, and they mostly relied on Terrance's arm to bring them back. Terrance threw some bad passes, and even a lot of his good passes were wobbly... but he led his team down the field for what would have been the tying TD had his kicker not missed the extra point. (Interesting note: when they kicked the ball off after their TD, Terrance was the guy that kicked the kick-off... it was a horrible kick, but still interesting that they use him as their kicker on kickoffs).

But they got the ball back with about 6 minutes left in the game, down by 1 point, and Terrance led his team on a 91 yard drive for the victory, which included two 3rd down conversions, and a huge 4th down conversion (where Terrance hit his guy over the middle) and finished with a 38-yard TD pass from Terrance to a WR streaking into the endzone from the right side for the winning TD. They went for the 2-point conversion to make up for the missed PAT on their previous TD, which Terrance kinda just jogged in the left side of the endzone because there were no defenders in his way. Note that after this, they showed him coming off the field, and he was limping slightly, so it could be that he wasn't playing at 100% today due to a nagging injury.

For the job Terrance did at QB, they named him Player of the Game and said "Les Miles and the Tigers got a good one," and then the only other compliment they gave him was that they said that he did a good job "buying time in the pocket" which was parroting the only compliment his coach gave him after the game in the post-game interview. As for myself, I didn't see any of the examples of how he bought time in the pocket... I just saw him fairly quickly throwing the ball the whole time, and winning the game for his team by doing so. But again, I only saw chucks of the 4th quarter.

You should watch some of his highlights for a better description of his ability. Magee has 31 TDs this year and 11 of those a rushing TDs from the QB spot. Has slightly less rushing yards than the Miss St. commit who is the primary runner in this offense and Magee has more rushing TDs.

Magee had some nice runs and controlled the game nicely tonight.

He will mainly be a change of pace back for LSU who can also go out in the flats.

Was reading another thread on the game and someone shared this link:
    Demons 2010 Offensive Stats

    Says Terrance is 81 of 101 (80.2%) for 1447 yards, 20 TDs, 1 INT.

    Regarding rushing:
Terrance has 533 yards on 48 carries (11.1 YPC) and 11 TDs.
The Miss State commit has 695 yards on 38 carries (18.3 YPC) and 12 TDs.

Sports : Battle of the BIG DOGS : St. Tammany, LA

Both are good players but Magee takes the cake and reflected over their career stats and rankings from the national guys. Remember Robinson also benefits from defenses keying in on one of the top players in the state in Magee. Really need to check the highlights because the 4th quarter is not going to tell you much.

Last year Magee had 41 TDs with over 1700 yards passing and over 1300 yards rushing.

Clicking the "All Seasons" link at
    Demons ALL Offensive Stats

    Says:

    Rushing:
    Terrance -- 1,830 yards on 186 carries (9.8 YPC), 25 TDs
Miss St guy -- 2,010 yards on 136 carries (14.8 YPC), 36 TDs

    Passing:
    Terrance -- 188 of 277 (67.9%) for 3,048 yards, 46 TDs, 5 INT
Miss St guy -- doesn't pass, he's the "Ridley-type" RB

Both sound like beasts for their Louisiana 4A high school championship-caliber team, sucks that the NCAA caps the amount of schollies that teams can give out, because I'd like to see LSU sign the Miss St commit as well so we don't have to face him in the SEC West. Would also be nice if some non-SEC school steals him away from Miss St, like how the ATH recruit playing QB for Salmen commited to K-State.

As for the recruiting services, although Rivals rates them both the same, Scout and ESPN rate Terrance higher, same with the situation with that ATH recruit playing QB for Salmen that is the K-State commit.

Not really close to the same.

Rivals has Magee as a 5.7 3* and the #40 ATH (#16 in LA)
Rivals has Josh as a 5.6 3* and the #49 RB (#29 in LA)

Scout has Magee at the #32 RB (#14 in LA)
Scout has Josh as the #70 RB (#33 in LA)

If LSU could take another RB from LA it would be Montrel Carter who is currently at Hargrave and after that we have a handful of other ATH's higher on our board. Miss St actually has a RB from LA committed to them who is rated higher than Josh; Devonte Scott out of Ferriday.

Here are some limited Magee's highlights from ESPN from one game and one play in another.

    FYI,

Franklinton won the district last night over the higher ranked Salmen team lead by Magee's 5 TDs. (4 passing and 1 rushing) Franklington was #2 in 4A before last night. Magee had about 285 passing yards and 80 rushing yards and also ran in a 2 point conversion at the end of the game to put the 7 point lead in the final seconds of the game.
