Just flipped his commitment from A&M to LSU today. He was recruited to play DE at A&M but the offer from LSU was too much to pass up. 6'7 285 West St. Mary (Baldwin, LA) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgu1oIm54Sc]YouTube - Jerald Hawkins #9 DE/DT/OT/TE Class of 2012‏[/ame]
Tough to evaluate based on that video, but looks like he's got decent quickness, and does a good job staying low for a kid of his height. I know he's a 4-sport athlete at WSM, and was the 3A shot put state champ. He could be a contributor down the line, but not an immediate impact player.
I don't know about immediate, but he will be a contributor at some point. You're right about one thing. He can get low and he moves very well. If he only played OT; read- not athletic enough to play other positions and in a more highly scouted state, he would have some stars, ****, IMO. Same thing for Travin Dural. edit - I see on another thread he is likely an early enrollee. I like this guy!
