We know you just don't want to concede your comments about LSU never being in it…LOL

It is ok and the truth will set you free. :)

Come on man, you had him 9th on your list, behind Kelly. Kelly! You know, the guy who you were certain was going to one of the Florida schools. You had little hope for Carter. More than I did, but not by much.

We'll both let the truth set us free together. lol

I had Carter as my surprise for a while now and never backed down from that. Him being at 9 was just because of what I heard from his UGA visit the final weekend which ended up being correct and he had 4 or 5 teams in the running. I thought we had a shot at all 9 guys or they wouldn't have been on my list. I had Kelly above him because FSU didn't offer yet and it would just between LSU and UF if no FSU offer came and LSU looked to be in the drivers seat before the last weekend. I used the same line of thinking for Porter jumping up to #5 on my list because it was just between TCU and us and I think he favored LSU but family wanted him close to home.

It isn't like Brick and staff weren't on the phone with him yesterday and today and thinking there is no shot at landing him. Brick has always felt good about their chances and reported by all sites for it to be the case. It isn't like Carter didn't just confirm this as well.

Carter ended up being a good surprise pick.

What I don't get is if Pruitt stays at FSU, doesn't Carter go to FSU? His implication that Pruitt was the deciding factor but then LSU was the choice if he isn't at Georgia was a bit confusing.

Maybe Pruitt going to GA was enough to push them over the top. Like he wanted UGA but before Pruitt didn't feel comfortable there and so was going to pick LSU. After Pruitt he felt better about his home school and chose it.

Very plausible and I like it.

Man, that makes me sick. I think this guy is going to be all-world. Good luck to him, seems like a nice guy.

I do think he's going to be a good one...maybe even great. The only thing that struck me about him was in a couple of interviews he was insistent on not being asked to tie up with "those big ol offensive tackles" all the time. That's why I figured he'd go to Georgia to play in a 3-4...which with the addition of Pruitt they might no longer do anyway. He's got the temperment to be a great pass rusher, but I wonder if he's got the mentality to commit to being an every down player and be equally good at stopping the run.

I felt he could come here and have a Mingo like progression. Start off as a pass rush specialist and grow into damn good defensive end who could easily play rush LB in a 3-down lineman format. The numerous offsides penalties aside, I thought Mingo became a very effective run stuffer in his final year here but he had to grow into that. Carter will too.
