IMO calling the plays doesn't make you a leader. Furthere. There were a number of times guys were out of position. I would also hope the starting MLB of LSU would know how to tackle. No one questions that......

    Both are your quotes, 123.

Uhh, yea. I said it was an assumption that ANYONE who starts for LSU could tackle.....

I repeat, at no point did I say Welter "could not tackle".

He was good at getting tangled up in the runners feet 5-7 yards down field. Most teams knew this and ran right at him. He got to see a lot of ankles and inflate his stats. However making tackles after a ten yard gain isn't exactly plugging the middle. I hope he improves and becomes an All American LB, but most of the time last year he was a liability.

panties in a wad, I criticize a lot of players on defense last year, but funny he is the only guy you are standing up for. You a transparent in your defense. The guy was a liability this past season just like a number of guys, especially in the secondary, I guess everyone who says this is crazy and your point of view is bible at this point.

It ain't about you. You criticize without vilifying. Some of your pals here singled him out for ridicule and you know it. Last year it was Reid and I stood up for him, too.

we will agree to disagree, no need to keep going like this, it will solve nothing and create tension.

I agree, Reid was an All-American and a future Pro-bowler. But some folks were accusing him of slacking and coasting in his final season. He did miss a few big plays in a big game or two, but the guy was good. A few actually called him overrated and thought he had an attitude problem. I never got it.

Reid took bad angles was the popular fan gripe of 2012. It exceeded gripes about punt ugly (which never esulted in a blocked punt and many teams use now), and rivaled gripes about the short side option (which exposed that most fans know little about the option, as you run the option to the side of the field vacated by the safety, be it long side or short side.)

All that said, Welter was a huge liability all year in the middle. His method of dropping into coverage was turning his back to the line and running downfield. Izzy pointed that out in week 3 or so, and at first I figured it was him being over extreme as per the usual, but it was dead on.
