So another long drawn out situation that keeps him off the field.

LSU defensive end signee Arden Key cleared, will report in August, school says

Four star defensive end signee Arden Key has been cleared by the NCAA and is scheduled to arrive at LSU in August, school spokesman Michael Bonnette said Wednesday.

Key, a 6-foot-5, 230-pounder from Georgia, is one of the most highly regarded recruits in a 2015 Tigers signing class ranked as high as No. 5 in the nation. Key was not cleared in time to begin summer school two weeks ago with the other signees, but he will report when fall camp begins, Bonnette said.

LSU will begin fall camp Aug. 6. The Tigers report on Aug. 5.

Key is one of four signees who haven’t made it to campus. Defensive back Jeremy Cutrer and offensive tackle Chidi Valentine-Okeke continue to go through the NCAA clearing process, Bonnette said. Receiver Brandon Martin, a three-star prospect from Missouri, won’t play at LSU this fall. He’s already enrolled at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

Valentine-Okeke is a four-star recruit originally from Nigeria who’s ranked as the fifth-best tackle nationally in the 2015 class. Cutrer, originally part of LSU’s 2013 signing class, was ranked by 247Sports as the second-best junior college safety prospect in this year’s class.

Key was ranked as the No. 5 weak-side defensive end prospect in the nation and is expected to be an immediate impact player for a team that lost starting defensive end Danielle Hunter and Jermauria Rasco.

Key committed to LSU over South Carolina during a live ceremony on FoxSports just before signing day in February.

Key will join 21 other signees who are enrolled and going through summer school and summer workouts. Four enrolled in January and participated in spring practice.
