    Walking With Tigers ?@LSUTigersBook 18m
Ty Detmer just told me his nephew, 8th grade QB Zadock Dinkelmann, was not only offered yesterday by @LSUfball. He committed to Coach Cam.

    Hunter Paniagua @HunterPaniagua
Confirmed what @MattMoscona & @LSUTigersBook tweeted earlier. 2018 QB Zadock Dinkelmann, the 8th grade nephew of Ty Detmer, committed to LSU

Tremendous arm for an 8th grader.

Is this a joke? I mean, I understand the Dylan Moses thing but the qb position is much better. I wonder if they're trying to get this kid some PR. If he's legitimately good enough for us to offer then I'm very excited but I just can't imagine.

Most 8th graders aren't even good at playstation football yet.

I'm sure this young man will go through many changes, situations, trials and tribulations by 2018 that may cause him to reconsider and for lsu to as well. I'm going to put this commitment far in the back of my mind for a few years.

Not at all a fan of offering a kid this young. I know its becoming the landscape, I just dont agree with it. All that said, as cajdav1 there is a lot of life for this kid to live before 2018. Id be very, very surprised if he is an actual part of the 2018 class.

I don't understand this, it just doesn't feel right. Commitment and 8th grader don't belong in the same sentence. What do we gain here?

None of these early commitments mean a lot. People will change their minds. But LSU has a broad net out there looking at high school talent and when you spot a comer that early you let him know you are interested. How can it hurt? Hell, Dale starting recruiting Shaq when he was 13. That worked out pretty well.

Yes I agree, I really don't see a down side. However I really don't see much positive either. Not sure what the coaching staff is thinking but I'm surely not bothered by it. Maybe it's just starting LSU talk amongst younger players. I'm sure they have a reason.
