Don't make excuses for Addai's fumbles....he's had fumble issues since he was a Freshmen carrying the ball 5 times a game. Also, you shouldn't talk as if Miles' has had the habbit of giving Addai 30+ carries every game. In fact, this is the FIRST game in which Addai has had more than 25 times. Addai's carries on the season: 16 vs ASU 16 vs Tenn 17 vs Miss. State 24 vs Vandy 32 vs Florida So, outside of tonight's game, he's ONLY reached the "average" number of carries (which is widely considered 20 carries) just ONE other time this season in 5 whole games. Sorry, but the basis of your statement holds very little water. Also, is it just me, or is it almost impossible for people to NOT find SOMETHING--no matter how pathetically insignificant--about our coach following a win????
I am well aware that Joe has not carried the ball 32 times every game! That is why I made the post....LM needs to spread the ball around a little (without Joe ,Tigers are in trouble)
If it isn't broke don't fix it... Lawrence Maroney for Minnesota gets it 40 times a game... He isn't hurt is he?
My suggestion: Wait until Addai carries the ball 30+ times in back-to-back games before jumping on the "what is Miles doing?!" bandwagon.... :thumb:
I think Auburn is a much more phy. team than Fla. not as fast but stronger in the middle, I am afraid pounding Joe in there 30 times may get him hurt... then Tigers are in trouble for the rest of the season.
Also, in the past, we've had Ricky Williams, Ron Dayne, Deuce McAllister and Shaun Alexander that used to consistantly carry the ball 25+ times a game--and on MANY occassions 30+ times. Basically, you can't NOT give him the ball if he's your best chance at moving the ball. People want to talk about not liking "conservative play calling"...well, if you don't get the ball in the hands of our better players, then, in a way, THAT's conservative all the same. You can't play in fear of having a player get hurt. The game was close and not in hand until the VERY end. Had we had a two-score lead on Florida, then I doubt Miles keeps feeding Addai the rock. But just like the Vandy game, the score was much too close to just stop using Addai other than to give him a breather occassionally.
Just to give some perspective (SEC leaders in rushing attempts): http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/sortables?stat=rush&sort=rushatt&year=2005&group=8 God forbid, but if Addai gets injured, it's more likely to be because it's the "nature of the game" and less likely because he's being used too much.
