I dont see why some think Doucet is not that fast. He ran a 4.4 forty coming out of St. Martinville. He probably runs the same now or maybe a slight bit faster. Every search I did on him came back with that time. Wide Receiver St. Martinville (LA) Ht: 6-foot-1 Wt: 207 lbs Forty: 4.4 secs GPA: 3.4 ACT: 18 I am also seeing times of 4.36 and 4.35 from NFL related sites.
Doucet had the 58(?) against ND, a couple long ones against Alabama, I'm sure there were plenty others plus last year plus return abilities, etc.
Well, that's exactly why I dont think he's a 4.4 guy. His 58 yarder against ND didnt go for a TD because of his speed. He has great hands, caught the ball and ran for only 5 yards and got tackled from behind. Again, Doucet is one of my favorites and he's a guy that I would love to see going in the top 10. Im just throwing my opinion on how some aspects of the draft can affect someone who has a top 10 potential into a 2nd, 3rd round. We have many examples from the past years that I dont even need to mention. Again, best of luck to Early and I hope he goes early too.
Wrong. His long catch against ND didn't go for six because his body was turned back to catch the ball, giving the defender time to close on him. Go watch it again. He's 4.4 all day long.
The ball was slightly underthrown. He had to stop, then jump to catch the ball. By the time he landed, he had 2 defenders around him. Kinda had to outrun someon when you have 2 dbs hanging on your back
Neither was the ball underthrown nor did he even jump one inch to catch it. After he caught the ball (while running) he ran for about 5 yards before getting tackled. He's probably a 4.4 guy but wasnt fast enough on that play.. GEAUX Doucet!! The star of the show in 07!
Him "floating" above the ground around the :21 mark of this video makes me think he jumped. His back to the endzone reaching back towards the line of scrimmage tells me it was slightly underthrown. As soon as his foot hit the ground, he was tackled.
We're not talking about that play, of course he jumped on this play. It's how the play was designed and it was executed to perfection, it wasnt underthrown because it was thrown right in between the 2 ND defenders. The one we're talking about is the 58 yarder when the score was tied 14-14.
