So, would you say that if guns were twice as hard to get that that man's chances of being accosted would have been less?
Let me phrase this in a simple manner even you might understand. Say a law is passed that makes it twice as hard to legally purchase firearms. Lots of people who abide by the law then don't want to jump through all the hoops and are unable to acquire a means to protect themselves. Criminals, on the other hand, are unaffected by the new rules and continue to obtain guns the same way they always have, steal them or on the black market. The crooks know that fewer good guys have guns and know that the odds of getting shot during a robbery have gpne way down, thus the bad guys are emboldened to commit even more crimes.
Never mind.... I'm wasting my time. You obviously don't understand quantitative methods nor supply and demand. For the rest of you, in advanced countries where the incidence of legal gun ownership is lower (e.g. the UK, Australia, Japan, France) the incidence of illegal gun ownership correlates to lower as well, and the type of crime mentioned in the lead post occurs at lower frequencies. Again, I'll repeat... I'm not taking any stand pro or against. Just mentioning irrefutable, incontestable truths.
