Breaking news on CNN. A dining hall on an American base near Mosul was attacked today and early reports are 20+ killed and 80+ wounded.

We cannot secure the cities, we cannot secure the roads that are our supply lines, we cannot secure the borders, and now we cannot even protect our troops in their own bases.

We need a new defense secretary. One who listens to the generals.

the only thing I question is why don't we have better surveilance around our
bases whether its air power or trenches with troops looking for these renegades. :usaflagwa

I think that is exactly what red is asking. Why have we been in this sh!t hole for almost two years and we still don't have a secure perimeter?

You guys still don't understand this enemy do you? This is not conventional warfare. Do you think for a second that there was no security at the base? Do you think another Defense Secretary would say, hey, here's an idea. Let's prevent these attacks on our soldiers? I don't know how the attack occurred but we will learn from it.

Do you think some of us really don't understand this war?
It seems to me that you should be able to spot a group of civilians with machine guns or RPG's walking down the street.

They may not be soldiers but you can still spot people with weapons.
You are right about Rumsfeld and there has to be some security in place.
I hope and pray and know we will learn from this attack.

Would you be ok with this answer if one of your sons was killed in this attack? Well we under estimated the insurgents ability to attack our position, but it's a learning experience.

That's why we should all hope that I'm never given the legal authority to blow sh!t up. I personally don't care about all the innocent civilians or the 'good' muslims. That 'Shock and Awe' bullsh!t would look like your neighborhood fireworks show once I got the bomb. :po: :911: :po:
