The redshirt issue has been brought up for him in recent days, especially by a couple of the local talk radio hosts. Seems to be mostly speculation at this point.

Yeah, Songy was discussing it this afternoon. Of course I take that with a grain of salt.

Why doesn't Jacob Hester's name come up in any discussions about RB or is everyone just putting him at fullback? I thought he looked really good in the Peach bowl. He looked very quick and didn't mind running over people and he can catch the ball, same stuff we loved about Joe Addai.:thumb:

With all the talent at running back, you would have to put him at fullback. He is a nice weapon from that position being able to run like he can and not to mention he can catch the ball all over the field.

Sabanfan could have gained 70 yards the way the Oline was playing in that game.

I think Hester would do ok in a have to situation, but he isn't on par with the rest of our RB's IMO.

Was there ever an official announcement to the extent of his injury? I swear one day Buddy Songy mentioned 'torn ACL' when talking about JV but then I tried to look it up on the internet and couldn't find anything about his injury, besides that it was his knee.

    Anyone know?

I recall that he tore his ACL while playing on special teams against Miami.

Did you see how tired and worn out he was after that last td drive where he was used on almost every play? I don't think he could play at an Addai level for a whole game.

OK if that is the case, then a redshirt would be the best thing for him. Most players are able to play after 9 months but not really back to 100% until they are 2 years removed from the injury. Considering he's only got one more year, it seems to be a good idea to get all the way back if he wants to impress scouts for a possible NFL career.
