Does the signing of Mario Stevenson allow Coach Saban to move
Travis Daniels back to safety, and thus fill the gap left by Jack Hunt's departure with an experienced player? Or does Daniels
stay at CB, and Steltz steps into that safety role as a freshman?
Looks like it could be competitive back ther come fall practice.

I would die if that happened and it won't as Daniels wasn't a cornerback because we needed a cornerback, he was a safety because we needed a safety. He's a born corner and plays much better blanket coverage than Corey. He was 3rd or 4th in the nation in passes defensed even though he didn't start at corner on a regular basis till after Landry came on in what the 5th or 6th game?

He should stay at CB. He was great there last year. And we have so many young Safeties, someone will step up

Saban said several times that Travis Daniels is a true CB ... and that's where he'll play!

Look for Stevenson and Jesse Daniels to play in the nickel and dime situations. Steltz will also likely be in the mix to get some PT.

I tend to forget about Jesse Daniels. I know he contributed quite a bit early in the year, then was kind of overshadowed by Landry.

Yeah. With the departure of Hunt and the arrival of Steltz, that should make for quite a competition for the starting SS position. I actually look for Landry to be the QB of the secondary.

Travis was outstanding at CB this year, don't mess with a good thing. Having two true lockdown corners with experience goes a long way in helping the rest of the defense especially the defensive line. We also have a group of young talented players that could step up and play safety. Unless no one steps up and becomes a really good 3rd CB Stevenson will probably redshirt. Keron Gordon, Ronnie Prude, Jesse Daniels, Jonathan Zenon and Daniel Frances are all talented guys that will have a chance to earn a spot on the two deep. However someone as talented as Stevenson appears to be may be hard to keep off the field, he will not replace Daniels though IMO.

Stevenson should see a lot of play at nickel and dime coverage along with Ronnie Prude and Nick Child.

Daryl Johnson may compete for playing time alongside Jesse Daniels at the vacant Safety slot. We will have to wait to see if Steltz can make an impact. My guess is that he gets redshirted.

TDan and CWeb are out starting corners without a doubt.

Gordan, Francis and Irvin have shots at PT as well at DB.
Gilbert, Russell and Zenon have shots at PT at the safety positions.
