With only 12 seconds left and no timeouts at the Miami 16 yard line, Rodgers decides to ad lib and throw the ball towards the sideline to rookie receiver Devante Adams (vs spiking it to stop the clock). Adams did not know the ball was coming his way. With a Miami defender awaiting him 5 yards away, the defender stupidly allowed him to continue on a path towards the sideline instead of forcing him back inside towards other Miami defenders awaiting to tackle him. It would have been arguably the most bone headed play of Rodgers' career had the Miami player just did what he should be taught to do in that game situation.
It didn't though, the play after won it. And that play would have worked from the 12 yard line as well. That was a huge gamble. It's one of those things that had it been done at LSU man the fanbase would have lost it's collective shit if it didn't work, and if it had, you'd see mad hatter bumper stickers and shirts and #fearthehat shit would be all over the place. He got really lucky.
Imagine that rookie receiver stupidly turns up field and gets tackled at the 5 yard line. Wow. This wasn't Jordy Nelson we're talking about.
Yeah well skip was 100 % correct. Risk = End of Game with clock running out on you Reward = 8-12 extra yards closer to scoring, with no guarantee of said score
