PARKLAND, Fla. – The leader of a white nationalist militia says Florida school shooting suspect Nikolas Cruz was a member of his group and participated in paramilitary drills in Tallahassee. Jordan Jereb told The AssociatedPress on Thursday that his group wants Florida to become its own white ethno-state. He said his group holds “spontaneous random demonstrations” and tries not to participate in the modern world. Jereb said he didn’t know Cruz personally and that “he acted on his own behalf of what he just did and he’s solely responsible for what he just did.” He also said he had “trouble with a girl” and he believed the timing of the attack, carried out on Valentine’s Day, wasn’t a coincidence.
I think confiscating guns is doing nothing. It literally would not solve the problem. Mostly because it couldn’t be done. You would never rid the US of guns. From good or bad people. So, that’s pretty much sitting on your hands.

Would your perspective change if you knew more people are murdered with hammers in the US each year than all rifles combined. Everyone wants to do something. As humans we solve problems. We dont sit idly as children are massacred. But you dont shit all over individual rights with an emotional cause disguised as progress either. Arm the schools and add the metal detectors. Educate the parents. Educate the kids. Be more proactive. The deputy commander was just executed in Chicago right near city hall in a government building-- where some of the toughest gun laws exist and many many murders occur. They also have an assault weapons ban and have a higher number of guns recovered than most cities. Just saying.

Not really. Tommy guns are outlawed and there is a long list of weapons that are prohibited. In the later part of the 19th and earlier parts of the 20th centuries there was a consensus that people could keep guns for hunting and personal self defense but that there were limits on military style hardware. There is broad range to limit weapon rights in the constitution. Remember ALL constitutional rights have limits. The 2nd is no different.
