LSU wide receivers coach leaving for the NFL Brett Weisband February 8, 2015 @ 5:55pm After some staff shakeup earlier this offseason, it looks like LSU isn’t done with coaching searches. On Sunday, the school announced that wide receivers coach Adam Henry is leaving the Tigers to take a position with the San Francisco 49ers. Henry had been at the school since 2012 and recently was given a two-year contract extension. He came to the Tigers from the NFL, having worked with the Oakland Raiders before his stint with LSU. The Tigers’ replacement for Henry will be the third new assistant on Les Miles’ staff, joining defensive coordinator Kevin Steele and defensive line coach Ed Orgeron. Henry was vital in recruiting two receiver signees in this year’s recruiting class; 247sports lists him as the primary recruiter for both four-star Derrick Dillon and three-star Brandon Martin, both of whom flipped to LSU from other SEC programs on National Signing Day.
You send an OBJ, Landry and Wright into the NFL last year, yep, good coach... More Info: 49ers hire LSU wide receivers coach February 8, 2015, 3:00 pm Adam Henry spent five seasons (2007-11) as a coach on the Oakland Raiders staff. (AP) The 49ers hired former LSU wide receivers coach Adam Henry, the LSU sports information department announced on Sunday. Henry and Ronald Curry are expected to both hold the title of 49ers’ wide receivers coach and share the responsibilities. Henry spent five seasons with the Raiders coaching staff, including one of the season while Curry was finishing his seven-year NFL playing career. Henry was the Raiders offensive quality control coach in 2007 and ’08 before serving three seasons as the team’s tight ends coach. In his first season as the LSU wide receivers coach, Henry coached Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry. Henry was a wide receiver at McNeese State, where he earned All-Southland Conference honors in 1993. He finished his collegiate career with 93 receptions for 1,690 yards and 16 touchdowns, all of which remain top 10 marks in school history. He spent the 1995 season on the practice squad of the New Orleans Saints. Earlier this offseason, the 49ers denied Curry permission to go to the Buffalo Bills with offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who held the same role with the 49ers for the past four seasons. The 49ers have not announced any additions to Jim Tomsula’s staff.
Good for him, hope he does well. The new coach will have plenty talent to work with and very low expectations.
LSU needs a big time replacement if they want to keep attracting the top WR talent. Likely some of the new recruits won't be thrilled about this. LSU lucky they have their letters already. He can thank Beckham and Landry for the NFL job.
