lol wow he's something. dont hardly need to pass. I guess he's better than our 3 backs since we have to pass a good bit even with our O-Line. Maybe due to OU's schedule they can but put that plan in the SEC. I wish it luck. damn gotta love how average fan sees one game of Peterson and can't declare such assessments.
That's a fair assessment. Basically with AD, you have to decide whether or not you or going to play 5 DBs in Zone coverage and stop the pass or game plan to stack the box and try to stop the run leaving man coverage on the receivers which Jason would love to see. White had big games his first 3 games. Against Tech and Texas, we ran the ball down their throats. Stoops doesn't want to be one dimensional anymore. With AD, we are not. Last year, you guys and KSU had the athletes to shut down the passing game. Stoops doesn't want to get into that situation again.
Wow well aren't you suddenly just the ultimate self-annointed football genius. :dis: I have watched OU vs Oregon, OU vs Tx Tech, and OU vs Texas. Their team is completely different this year than last year as they are running first and passing when necessary. Perhaps in this case, it is you who is the average fan and has seen one game of Peterson and this year's OU team. Then again, perhaps you are indeed a football genius. Seriously though, had a bad day? Go get a beer. :thumb:
I declare myself average fan... you assumed I didn't. Thats my point, no one can see one game or two of a player and know if he's the next barry sanders. Clearly he's got great skills, why else would he have been recruited by everyone in the nation. the real question is whether he is going to be a superstar or not. sure it seems that way. Simply saying there's no way to know much less with OU's schedule. Could he have gained 100 yards vs LSU last year? No. would any of you be thinking he was that great if that was the case? not near as much hype as he is getting now going against one team. Nor would it have meant he was any less of a back if he was up against Lavalais and was shut down. that is all i was saying. no not a bad day at all. just stating that overeactions usually follow overhyped games.
If you guys are defending the pass, there is no reason in the world why he wouldn't be able to do that. Doesn't matter anyway. He wasn't on the team then.
For a freshman to come in and change the dynamics of a team and have several 100+ yard rushing games, including a 200+ yard game against a top ten team, he certainly is deserving of the attention he has gotten. As for thinking how he would do in the SEC, against last year's LSU defense, etc etc etc... who knows? As I said in my original post: "Couple this with the OU defense and OU has no need, yet, to pass a whole lot." Sooner or later (probably later in an upper echelon bowl game) Peterson will face a quality defense and get tested. Then again, he could end up going against USC.
we defended both. normally I wouldnt make that assessment but that was one of the best defenses of all time. he wasnt getting 100 yards. i guess I shouldnt be objective....yes he deserves the heisman, yes hes gonna be the greatest back since hershel walker. end of discussion.
I'm not saying any of that. I'm just saying that he has lived up to hype so far. I didn't start this thread btw.
Now that I finished responding to the initial post by the thread starter, I just read the rest of the replies in the thread. I can see where you are coming from now. :hihi: C'mon islstl, you'd start shining the heisman trophy for the kid as of now?
