1. Now that I have read this I do believe something major will go down. You don't make this statement if the fire is not burning. They know enough facts to know LSU football players are going to be named.

    get ready !

The following is a statement from LSU Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva regarding the off-campus incident involving members of the football team on Thursday night:
"We will not tolerate student-athletes whose irresponsible actions tarnish the good name of a great university. LSU student-athletes are expected to behave with the understanding that they represent their school, their fellow students and the long history of this program, regardless of the time of day. Coach Miles has already begun taking disciplinary action. It is critical that we are deliberate in determining the facts surrounding this incident and as Coach Miles said, when the facts are clear, additional and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken if necessary."
  2. Joe "throw them under the bus" Alleva needs to stay out of this and let Les handle it. Like the Duke lacrosse incident, the whole story has not come out yet.
  3. Agree, you would think the Duke LAX fiasco would weigh heavily on his mind.
  4. Or he could be taking a hard line stance to make it easier to say, "We did a full investigation and ..." if there IS room to wiggle.

I agree with Red though, he needs to let Les take the lead on this and shut his trap.
  5. This. The "Marine" got his @$$ kicked and is crying like a little girl could be another way to look at it.

But, honestly, no one knows what the story is right now. I still can't believe that, in this age of YouTube, that no college kid has posted video of this huge fight.

What happens if this has been blown out of proportion? Now, certainly Miles is going to kick some @$$ of his own for the curfew breaking, but currently we really don't know much about the alleged fight.

And I wish Alleva had headed his happy butt to Tennessee last month because he needn't throw anyone under the bus (again) until the whole story comes out.

Furthermore, that original article was irresponsible "journalism" in several ways--using the term "charged," instead of "will be questioned on Monday," along with implicating Josh Downs, when it's Josh Johns. How credible...
  6. I'm pretty disappointed about this whole story. Regardless of how the facts play out.

We should have had some better leadership....

I understand a group of college football players slipping off for a night out. They had Friday off and were looking to relax and blow off a little steam. I get it.

Coach will likely keep their punishment in house.

For the ones that were physically involved in the fight, they're probably going to miss at least the Oregon, and rightfully so.

As far as we know, this is JJ's first time to get in trouble. Everyone deserves a second chance. If the rumors are true, he's missing some games, but I doubt he gets kicked off the team.

  7. IF he's charged with second degree battery, I beg to differ.
  8. Didn't click the link, but if it's SportsNOLA, they have retracted that from "charged" to interviewed, and they have apologized to Josh Downs for slandering him, since he wasn't involved. It's Josh Johns...and I hope Josh Downs sues them out of business.
  9. fully agree! alleva and his trigger happy attitude to throw anyone and everyone under the bus to save his own rep scares the snot out of me.

he needs to step back and let his coach handle this.
  10. this. i dont think the innocent little victims are anything like that at all.

we have only heard one side of the story, and that is what the press is running with. and the erroneous reports are what seem to be getting passed on.

if some of what is leaking out from the players side is true, such as one player who did not throw a single punch getting cold cocked by the marine, then maybe turn about is fair play and the player needs to be pressing charges.

this whole thing is a cluster that could have been avoided had players followed the rules and had their butts in their rooms. and that pisses me off. but i think we have seen an intentional campaign by some to get one side out there, and far and wide. its the old "a lie is half way around the world before the truth even gets its pants on" sort of thing. i'm not saying the players are choir boys, but the story as is out there does not add up. especially for guys that have not caused any trouble before.
