    Tirk:

I have talked with many former players such as J. Whitton and K. Shipp(work with both) and they don't see the fire in their eyes, the ralley caps when down and so on. Baseball like other sports is somewhat mental. Now it is not a in your face sport like football, but there is still a mental mindset involved.

Unlike others I do have season tickets for baseball and go to the box for about 80% of the games, and do think these players lack motivation and do lack a proven leader like Larson, Blair, or a Chad Ogea.

If you think this team has not underperformed and is motivated, then you sincerely need to get off the LSU homer coolaid with all due respect.

This team has been perpetually inconsistent with exception of good pitching which can still help savage the season.

These are not lies Tirk they are facts. With a 5-7 record, and attendence at 15 year lows, this is little more than a slump.

oh i agree there are problems with this team as there are with any team that struggles. wherein the problem lies, I dont think anyone knows for sure.

I agree with most of your post yet Ill not believe the complete nonsense most like to hide within their rants about things they have little to zero knowledge of and its obvious in many posts.

And since you follow this team I can respect your opinion. the attendance is not a shock. I was surprised it took this long. People have been using their season tickets simply for regionals. And now since that looks like an improbability you can expect nothing but smaller crowds now. the bandwagon hath emptied.

plenty of frontrunners. you know how it goes. there's not a bunch of true baseball fans. just fans of the flavor of the month.

maybe softball can pick it up so those these people can find something to pretend to support.

Well said worthy of rep points.

I value your insight and I would pose the question to you? What would you do if you were in Smoke's shoes to turn this season around.

Quit reading the newspaper and get the players to relax. The hitters are pressing more and more. This is a good team. They'll hit their stride. Worst case scenario is they'll play in somebody else's regional, but they'll play. Beware of a wounded Tiger.

Yep, do the complete opposite of what everyone says needs to be done. Take the guys on a trip somewhere to forget about baseball for a few days, get them out of the cages and on a beach or something.

And like Tirk said in another thread, if anyone can figure out exactly how to get guys out of a slump he'll be awfully rich.

Maybe it takes having Skip Carey say on the air that the guy is going to break out of his slump right now, it worked great with Furcal last night f anyone else saw that. :hihi:

Of course, one of the players can always go out and take one for the team:

Very true, knowing baseball and getting a team to play quality baseball are two different things.
I couldn't possibly agree more, Smoke is yet to field a team that other teams fear. Much of the time his teams look unprepared to play big time ball. Let's hope he is capable of turning things around and brings LSU baseball back to the top where it belongs.
