How ridiculous is that? Talk about more generalizations. No, they're less prepared and avoid practices unlike other schools. They don't scout and simply show up gameday hoping they are lucky enough to win. Name me a team in any sport which is 100% focused and prepared for every game. Once you find that coach, write skip. I guess you missed 2000 when Skip didn't even make the CWS. Once again, college baseball hath changed. Its ok if you don't accept it but I will continue to point it out whether you swallow it or not. very often a problem of most teams which were successful under Skip. However, there was much more room for error then. Now, you need less egos to survive. The problem is talent and egos usually go hand in hand. Nope and Bama hasnt been the same since Bear died. Wanna dig him up and prop him in the dugout for luck? try qualifying your statement as your opinion as opposed to matter of fact. actually LSU baseball was on a lesser level during Skip's last few years. the landscape had changed and similar to where the SEC had had caught up to spurrier, the same happened to skip although that was his goal. He helped mold college baseball into the vision he had when he took over the program which is when he knew it was time to retire.
OK how about something that is definitely not a generalization and you prove as fact the more you post. You are an arrogant a$$ that thinks he knows much much more than he really does but keep blowing your own horn it makes you look big and important.
I think Smoke needs to keep his players out of Fred's and Reggie's the night before home games. That may go a long way.
that's untrue on all accounts. if that's how you feel, more power to you. I'm not blowing any horn yet I am pointing out the fallacies in your argument. If that bothers you, I've succeeded. nice debate though.
Tirk, I thought Skip win the CWS in 2000? Do you mean 2001 against Tulame (I still can't stand Kaplan)? Guys, there is still a ton of games left in the regular season. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. We have the talent, I know we do. But I think part of the problem is the lineup is constantly changing. The biggest problem though is there is no leadership!!! That isn't the coaches job people. Holt and Zeringue tore their hair out trying to get deadpans like the Harris brothers to stop feeling sorry for themselves and get some fire. The biggest loss with those two has to be from a leadership standpoint. It is important for Liuzza to step up and lead ASAP.
yeah 2001 and I said the exact thing about liuzza about 2 minutes ago. the players are not policing themselves. in years past when out at the bars a couple of players would step up and deal with this directly. I didnt want to bring it up but what supa said above is true. Thats where my comments on egos comes from. Have a handful of guys could use a curfew like a 10 year old.
Then my post was evidentally not directed at you. I just want those who wish Smoke to be fired can name those that would be candidates to replace him and give credence as to why they would be better.
I worked with Smoke under Bertman when he was an assistant back in the day. Smoke is very knowledgeable in baseball, but can be very plain and simple/boring. I think he is a good coach but will never live up to his predecessor, but then again who could.
And Bogie's. Don't forget Bogie's. I'll give you one guess as to what the majority of the starters were doing the night before the Centenary game. It's not all of them and I really feel sorry for those guys who are trying their hardest to win another title. Some just don't seem to want it as bad as others.
