I think I'm gonna like this guy. Check out this quote: I kill the guy with the ball. That's my job, and I do it well - Al Wood
His highlight videos look like a 12th grader playing pop warner. He is massive compared to his fellow players, and pretty quick for such a big guy. It's hard to see his technique because he just basically bulls over everyone in his way to make the tackle...but he 'goes' for the ballcarrier - rather than stumbling into a tackle.
A very big get for Miles and his staff. This will serve as the first shot fired in a great recruiting year.
I can pretty much gurantee this our first 5 star guy this year, he could be the top DT prospect in the country. Huge pick up early in the recruiting season for Les. Next up? Jai Eugene, maybe?
In today's Advocate I have a feeling those other schools will still take there visits and try and persuade him to keep them in mind. They won't give up yet.
Seen this kid play countless times. His name is Al Woods not Al Wood and he plays for Class 1A Elton High School which is across the bayou from my hometown of Basile. They are in our district (5-1A). He is raw, but has freakish size and so much untapped potential. He has broken a few backboards in basketball also. Great pick-up for a guy who wasn't even on the radar until last year.
The kid has some amazing potential. With Dunbar working with him on the line I expect some huge things for this kid.
He better hits the book hard or he has to take the JUCO round. http://appl003.lsu.edu/slas/enrollweb.nsf/$Content/Admission+Requirements+for+High+School+Students?OpenDocument "According to Woods he carries a 2.6 core grade point average and has already scored a 14 ACT and is awaiting the results of a second ACT test." http://louisianastate.scout.com/2/377958.html
