Les did state after the Spring game this year that it he was happy about the way the Spring game turned out and I expect he will stick to it next year.
BINGO! :thumb: Heard Bama got a commit yesterday and the quotes from big time recruit Julio Jones along with a number of other big recruits is reason to have a real spring game. The more I read about Julio Jones comments the more I believe he is bama bound. I think we probably miss on this Mobile kid but there is still a long way to go.
I am also a little skeptical on Jones coming to LSU. But who knows, maybe all the Mobile kids at LSU will convince him that LSU is where his family is. I am sure that having JR going high in the draft and Chevis, Phelon, and Corley showing him around LSU will help. IMO, it will go to the wire but Bama is in the lead.
One call from JaMarcus Russell would make this guy commit to LSU.:hihi: He's [Russell] extremely famous in Mobile. Not to mention it seems Mobile parents seem to like Miles' personality. Jones and Corley last season are proofs.
If JR could call it may help but I dont think so even if he could. JR is from Williamson, Phelon and Sidell from McGill-Toolen and Chevis is from St Paul. Previous school affiliations have little to do with where current players commit. Bama already has a commit from Chevis's old school (St. Paul) in Ivan Matchett and supposedly about to get two more from that school. They also have another Mobile area player committed and strong interest from a few others including Jones. Seems like the gumps are getting back into the mobile market in a big way.
i cannot see how that violates NCAA rules at all. well, if you want him to do that, better do it before he gets drafted
Bama has always picked up guys from Mobile but of late if the guy has an offer from LSU and Bama he takes LSU. I am not syaing it is always going to be that way but that is the trend as of now. Those players that Bama recieved from Mobile would not be offered by LSU. BTW, a big reason we got Corley and Jones this year was because of the bond they formed with JR and Chevis during recruiting. Hurricane meet with their fathers and said this also plus the numerous reports by the media. No one said that it had to do with school affiliations but more of the fact that LSU owns Mobile at this time.
The rest of the SEC has gotten 'Bama's leftovers for decades. And what is up the calling us "Gumps". Is that LSU slang for winners?
