Minger’s roots are Cholly MAC Power Ball While you were cussing the Dee last week, I knew O&E we’re doing a usual Vanilla show scrimmage and that E only had one summer to get Burrow on board with all plays he absorbed from his tutelage under Canada ... We’re peeps now at #6 looking at Top 5 ball (OSU got lucky and beat TCU) with GA & BAMA coming to OUR HOUSE ... GA will be a push to a 3 pt favorite here Bama will be a solid TD favorite after we beat GA ... My preseason predictions! This team has the talent to beat Top 5 teams ... We’ll see what O&E are made of The weak link in our chain is coaching! What Joe Burrow did with the game on the line hasn’t been seen in a Top road game played by LSU in MANY MANY MANY yrs The coaches have time to make this season something truly special if we can keep the Dee healthy ... It’s a great time to be a Tiger and pull for O ... And E ... My grudge aside!
The real reason was that in 1963 or 4 Pat Screen was Charlie’s great QB who got injured and the replacements weren’t up to the task. Charlie vowed to have 2 QBs ready. Hell even Bert Jone split town with Paul Lyons...that was before Steve & David. BTW @Bengal B is right David had his own demons that had nothing to do with Charlie’s QB philosophy
But ... Dave was the better QB by far and wasn’t Coach’s favorite as Dave had a bad habit of challenging Coach and calling pass plays ... That led to his benching ... The Minger faithfully handed off to his RBs, including great #4 Alexander (4 Heisman) while a willful talented future ALL PRO went wasted on the sidelines ... Just sayin’ Mac never learned and that’s why he never could beat the bear in the mid to late 70’s although we had far better talent ... Ensminger has to overcome his roots as he was mentored by Coach Mac ... And Les He’s been blessed with a year under Matt Canada ... Hoping those 120 plays (now property of LSU) can do us some good. Anyone breaking down the plays ??? Anyone count the passes to TE ??? Anyone count the passes to RBs ??? I got the ESPN breakdown
