Loved how Amp says he's "ready to go for the season". It's easy to say that when you have to sit out for the year due to transfer rules. Another year to "rehab" is "100% healthy knee"??? Coincidence? I think not....
Kind of upsets me a little that his comments make Miles out to be a coach that "plays favorites"--even though for those of us that keep close tabs on the team, know that's not the case. But in the eyes of people (and more importantly recruits) who aren't as informed about the day-to-day activities at LSU, it looks like we play favorites, no? Forget what fans say, Miles never said anything bad about Amp--at least not publicly to tarnish Amp's image. After reading that article, I can't say that Amp did the same thing for Miles.
Good luck to Amp! With XC XCelling, I don't think this hurts LSU's WR recruiting in Florida too much! :geauxtige
Question.....how did the coaching staff miss Craig Knall's talent? Look what he did for himself after he left LSU. He is in his fourth year as an NFL backup to Brett Favre. Why didn't he see the field?
That wasn't Les Miles as the head coach now was it? Not trying to be a jerk, but you can say things like that about a LOT of coaches. Why wasn't Rohan the starter from the beginning? Why was Drew Bledsoe starting ahead of Brady? Craig Nall isn't gonna be the starter in Green Bay once Favre leaves--that's why they drafted Rodgers. Why did Ditka trade the farm for Ricky Wiliams? Hindsight is fun....but this is sports....it doesn't always work out for one reason or another. But in Amp's case, if you were coach--a NEW coach, and this player that's coming off of a MAJOR knee injury that has kept in sidelines for all but 15 plays in 2 seasons, and you have a former All-AMerican receiver returning along with the teams top two receiving leaders and two Sophomore players that played well as true freshmen, how can only 2 weeks of seeing a Amp practice make you tell him that he's gonna play ahead of the others??? You can't. You can't promise that kind of stuff.
All posts on this topic should be deleted, and leave Red's analysis as the official explanation. Even Amp probably couldn't explain it any better than this.
So Les Miles is a better judge of talent than Nick Saban? better than Bill Belichick? How do you know so much about Les Miles and his ability to gauge talent?
Well, let's see here...... Amp Hill who has been injured virtually since the day he arrived at LSU and has spent two years trying to get over a serious knee injury THINKS he isn't being given a fair shake. The guy hasn't played a down in two years and has gone through a single Spring and half of a Fall practice and just because he THINKS he's healthy and in his opinion he is playing well enough to start, Skyler Green, Early Doucet, Dwayne Bowe, Xavier Carter, Craig Davis, or somebody else should just now take their rightful place behind Amp Hill so he can start. I feel for the guy as far as his injury situation is concerned but it's not as if Amp Hill has been practicing with the team for the last two years and has been overlooked. In all fairness, I think Amp Hill has overreacted and has made a poor decision leaving the LSU team. I honestly think that frustration got to Amp and he should reevaluate his situation if it isn't too late. However, if he honestly feels that he has been wronged then it is probably better that he goes elsewhere instead of becoming a "cancer" on the LSU team.
Don't know if he's a better judge of talent than NS. Do you know that he's not? All I know is that with a new coach, you can't assume that he's any worse, or any better than the old one. Situations are very different. Different players, different circumstances, etc.
