Let me tell you how stupid I am and how unobtrusive you are.......I never realized your avatar was a "War Eagle". That's how good a guest you've been, I never realized you are an Auburn fan. In all honesty, as long as you've been here you aren't really a "Guest" we have to adopt you but I'd bet you gotta lil Tiger fan blood in your veins huh?? Admit it.
One of the biggest reasons I dislike AU is because my cousin attends AU. We historically don't get along with that side of the family due to other varied reasons, and this hasn't helped at all. She is a member of the "I am from New Orleans and I Hate LSU" facebook group. Lots of Tulane and UNO students are in that group. For those who think playing in the Dome is a great home field advantage, it's not because NO is chock full of LSU fans. Second of all, the fans waste no time in spouting off as much corndog smack as they can. Thirdly, Tommy Tuberville is the coach, and we simply won't forget the cigar game anytime soon. Damon Duval, Brandon Jacobs, David Irons.... the list goes on and on.
You must admit that even some of the best rivalries don't have anything close to the events thats happened when LSU and Auburn meet on the field. Earthquake, Fire, etc. Unexpected things can happen at anytime although not much has happened in recent years, its been normal other than the missed extra points.
If we're apologizing for things over which we have no control, I'll apologize for the majority of posters here, from those that think they're witty (and aren't) all the way through the sappy, "look into their eyes" ramblings of others hihi: Jean Lafitte.)
The things that happen in our games against each other couldn't be thought up by acid dropping Hollywood script writers. It is surreal.
Great post. LSU fans, this is the kind of person you will typically run into at a ND home game. I've mentioned before that I stopped following LSU b/c of "some" of the fans. The fact is, everywhere you go there will be a-holes and great people. I haven't participated much on the ND boards, but I've read some crazy ones there. Sure there are some here, but I've had nothing but good, freindly debate here (with a few harmless jabs thrwon in from time to time). Looking forward to going through recruiting, NFL draft, and next season here. Who knows, I might even start cheering for the Tigers again, just not if they're playing the Irish.
Nice post and I commend you for taking the time to do it. Don't let all the negative supporters at ND detour you from supporting the IRish in any way, shape or form. Especially your participation on message boards. Things might look all rosey around here now, but trust me, we had the same cancerous posts about Miles that you guys probably had about Ty (except for the race things). A large portion of the negative posts ended the night the BCS announced it's teams.
The way I was treated in that town a few years back has a lot to do with my hatred for them. And it was the freaking offseason. Tommy Tub-o-chit hasn't helped matters. And then of course the purchasing of the referees for our match up in AU rub me the wrong way too. But it's all good Deceks, I am glad you Aubies come around and have fun with us.
