Writers are so crazy, you have reporters who report the news, which there are few of these days. Then you have spin heads and sensationalists and tabloid hunters. Okay, so Miles may be in the early stages of a successful head coaching career in the SEC. So was Saban when he was hired. LSU tries their best to hire good coaches on the rise. Bama gambles on big name coaches and fails often. Can Saban win another NC, I doubt it. Not so much because of his coaching as it is being based on polls so much. Will Miles win an NC? I believe his best chance while at LSU is this year. So many things have to fall into place. If we have another 2 loss season I don't think anyone will mind. :geauxtige
Re: Good read...by a LSU writer. I honestly wasn't trying to flame or start anything...And really there was some sarcasm in my thread title but I can see where it can be picked up. I knew you guys would have a field day with the article. I didn't agree with much he said either. But in all honesty, I think that Saban will have a good year...Better than Shula's last year. Most Bama fans are thinking of a miricle of some sorts this coming year and most LSU fans are thinking it will be the same ol Bama of late...But I think both are wrong. Saban has us in the right direction and this year will be a suprise to most of the "other" fans. And if he is another Finebaum, LOL...It's just another guy that you love to hate! :thumb:
Re: Good read...by a LSU writer. Your word is good with me. :thumb: I tried to pick with you by changing the thread title but you'd left. :hihi:
Re: Good read...by a LSU writer. You may be surprised that most of our posters agree with that. They've given him that much......a "Good" year. Are you going to the LSU game?
Quote: LSU won seven games in the two seasons before Saban's arrival and had all sorts of other problems. The final 2 seasons of DiNardo's era were dominated by one big problem: Lou Tepper. People forget that DiNardo came here with a reputation for being a great recruiter and he certainly lived up to that. The cupboard Saban inherited was far from bare. In fact, his first defense included Jarvis Green, Trev Faulk, Bradie James, Mark Roman, and if I remember correctly, Booger McFarland. Current NFLers all. Saban left LSU in much better shape than he inherited it, no doubt. But he was hardly starting from scratch.
Re: Good read...by a LSU writer. Yeah I will be there. I'm going to all the "biggest" games (UT, LSU, FSU, and AU). I've got tickets to them all but I work every Saturday so it conflicts. Can't go to all of 'em...:nope: The LSU game should be a night game though, you think? That is going to be the biggest game here since the '05 Florida game...But even bigger. The atmosphere that week and especially that day is going to be HUGE! I can't wait! You coming up tiga???
Re: Good read...by a LSU writer. Maybe in the eyes of the LSU faithful, the game will be bigger. But, while it will mean something if we are in the race for the SECW, it will not be bigger than the UT game. Equal? I might give that a thought. Bigger than UF in '05? The only way I would concede that is if we are undefeated at that point.
Re: Good read...by a LSU writer. Not as of yet and probably not but that's one away game I'd love to be at.
Re: Good read...by a LSU writer. I was discussing this exact point with my brother today. Most everyone seems to forget that point. If there weren't so many unlikely upsets towards the end of the 2003 season (and we needed a bunch),we don't even make an appearance in the NC game and Saban would not be getting half the recognition he is currently getting. I don't remember a season, under Saban, when we started top 5 and remained that way till season's end, dominating opponents along the way. We were constantly losing games we shouldn't have.
