http://sports-ak.espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=262802390&confId=null UNC 7 Miami 27 ATTENDANCE: 29,621 ...in a stadium that seats 74,476
Miami is a terrible sports town except when it comes to the Dolphins. U of Miami a couple years ago had a hard time sellling out the stadium consistently when they were winning; now when they aren't winning, that is to be expected. The Marlins have attendance problems; the Heat (to a lesser extent) do as well.
When I said this to a miami fan in Miami here is thier excuse... #1-They claim they are trying to get rid of thier coker and don't want to show support for him by going to games. #2-He says they are a private school and don't have as many students as state schools. This surprised me to think of Miami as a private school, with the thugs that go there. But anyway that is thier excuse as he told it, at least.
Graham Harrell (QB for TTU) doesn't think too much of the fans in Lubbock: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/4243849.html "There's some warm-weather people there sometimes," Harrell said. "We have some great fans, and we have some not-so-great fans. They were booing because I was going in. They were booing the offense because we hadn't scored." He doesn't think the 2 fumbles and the back to back pics returned for TDs had anything to do with the booing. Saw an interesting stat; Harrell has been sacked 8 times this year and fumbled on six of those sacks.
As much as I hate to admit that a Miami fan is somewhat right, #2 on that list does happen. Although, it is kinda funny that there might be some Sun Belt teams that might come close to attendance figures of Miami. :hihi:
