Insert a (n't) in front of (has) and a (sh) before the (it) and you'd be correct. :hihi:

Re: Could not disagree more Fighting Tiger

    I like your style:

1993 or 4? Notre Dame beats Florida State and they both finish with the same record and both win their bowl games. Guess who gets the NC? This is the only example where I will not accept any explanation of this. The one team beat the other! Same records!!

I don't want a playoff. I like it just like it is.

    Amen.

All this talk about who's #1 adds fuel to fire, it is one more item that makes college ball vastly superior to pro football. Right now we have talk about Auburn, USC attempt at a repeat, and who'll move up. The pro stuff is primarily on New England being a dynasty. Cut and dry college champs are for those with a passing interest in college football, but live for the garbage on Sundays.

Since when does having 2-3 NC's a year make it vastly superior then the NFL?

Keeps people talking about the game, individual games are hashed and re-hashed, and allows seasons long ago to remain on the burner. People think LSU and Auburn fans need to move on, bring up Tom Osborne to a Michigan fan. The Coaches Poll fond farewell cost the Wolverines a clear cut title in 1997, but quick who won the Super Bowl?

I think its great that this controversy abounds with college football. Red55's great post about USC needing to REPEAT before 3-peating wouldn't happen with a clear cut champ. Auburn's undefeated and playing in the SEC taunt, matched with our possesion of hardware, at least give rise to talk that Southern Cal, though great, still has many detractors.

With a playoff system, the value of seemingly meaningless games would be zilch. In 2003 it was wild watching confirmed Alabama haters like myself, pull for the Red Elephant against Hawaii to bloster our schedule, or people actually caring the LaTech beat Rice. A playoff system virtually assures only a select few have a chance at the title. The current system even allows pissants, such as tulane, to pound their chest over a 1998 season.

The NFL playoffs do allow for a clear cut winner, but its boring. When Saints fans go bonkers over winning a playoff game, people snicker. When South Carolina go off about finally winning bowl game, grown men of the SC ilk wipe a tear away, and a college ball fan will say, "oh yeah, I remember that."

Without the split, we would have nearly the fun with Aw-barn's rings... bracletts, necklaces, and other items drag queens wear!

Be honest here. In 1957 you split that NC with OSU. That, after an mail/phone campaign from the school asking for votes. Funny, that '66 team you are making fun of allowed a total of 44 points, was undefeated (11-0), shut you guys out 34-0 along with 6 other opponents that year after winning the NC back to back in '64 and '65.

Here's a bit of history for ya. Lombardi, after winning the Super Bowl was asked if it was the best team ever. His reply? "I don't know, we haven't played Bama yet."

Hey, I look at the '41 title with a bit of skepticism...but that '66 team was one of the best, ever.

People talk about the NFL all year long as well.

Even without the BCS, people would talk about college football all year long...remember life before the BCS? Don't see any less talking before then....

The Super Bowl in 1997 was in New Orleans and won by Favre.
