This pretty much sums it up. He is a manipulative arrogant dishonest asshole and the skating culture is built around illicit drug use, Hawk's son Riley being one of the worst. I suppose someone was going to be "the one" eventually and lead the way....Hawk was it but he could have done so much more to advance the sport rather than lead it into a ditch.
Damn I'm getting old. When I read your thread title, I immediately thought about roller skating on Friday nights back in the 70's.
I had been roller skating a few times and when an ice skating rink opened in Baton Rouge when I was in high school I went there one time to try it. I was shocked that the ice skates only had a single blade running down the middle instead of two blades side by side like the wheels of a skate. Of course since then they have come out with roller blades. In one winter Olympics a girl from Miami and a guy from LA won ice skating medals and they had learned to skate on roller blades.
