hey Guys posting on generator power here in Mobile it was bad but not as near as bad as Gulfshores,Pensecola, etc.. they caught east side of Huuricane. I spent the night at my office at local hospital because we have built in generators.. Came home to find part of roof gone and still now power got some pics i took of my neighborhood plus Al Roker was doing shoots outside my office. If you are a praying person their is alot of devastion and shattered lives saddest i heard of so far is a child was killed in its sleep when a tree fell on his mobile home. I am tired and filthy from helping friends and stangers saw up trees and patch roof's gonna take a cold shower by hurricane lantern plug generator back into fridge and pray my screen on windows don't let skeeters in night All :cuss:
I went to Hawaii 2 Decembers ago. One of my buddies was in semester exchange and he went to UH (nice choice). The weekend we were there, there was a winter swell. During that swell, the Pipeline Masters took place and we went to check out some BIG wave surfing. Talk about lucky timing. Man, those waves were freakin' huge, I'm talking 30' faces. It was amazing to see guys riding waves that big. I have some pics I can post later.
The CBS News site has eyewitness accounts and pictures of the horrific damage that Hurricane Ivan inflicted on NEW ORLEANS !! Anchor Dan Rather will be doing his broadcast from atop the Jax Brewery so that America can see the terrible 15 foot floodwaters that cover the French Quarter as well as the rest of the Crescent City.
Let's hope he does or doesn't drink too much and fall from the top of the brewery into the terrible 15 foot floodwaters. I guess it depends on which side of the fence one sits
I know Pittsburgh had their greatest rain total EVER thanks to Ivan. My girlfriend and her sister went home from work and as soon as they got home 2 firefighters showed up at their door and told them they had 20 minutes to get the f*** out. The creek, which is about 150 yards in the back, flooded. The water was 10 feet high and rising. They grabbed the cats and hauled ass. They were the last cars to make it over the bridge before the water went over it. No one in that area has flood insurance because it is considered a "no flood" zone. The firefighters were saying that there were a few kids missing. Who would have ever thought Pitt would get smashed by a hurricane. They won't know the extent of the damage until tomorrow evening when they are allowed back home. It makes me sick in my stomach.
Here's an interesting write-up about the current rash of storms: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/hurricane_cycle
