thanks, i forgot all about him....hopefully he can be a force at OLB

maybe we're not in such bad shape after all.....definitely gotta get these guys some PT next season so we're not such newbies back there in 2008

I too forgot about Odom. He was very small but is bulking up, he was supposed to be a big time prospect. With excellent speed and athleticism. He was a Rivals 100.

No doubt every year produces a different "weakness" in terms of certain position depths. The past year or so it's been the need for O-linemen. Next year it would look to be LB and CB as positions running "thin".

I don't view any of them as a situation in which the coaching staff isn't paying attention to--or avoiding--it's just something that they have to take one position at a time.

No doubt we'll likely see Miles and Co. go after 2-3 (I'd imagine minimum) LB's, but when you consider after next season, we'll still have:

Beckwith who'll be a seasoned Sr. in '08
Cutrera who'll have lots of experience as a Jr.
Perry Riley who'll have had decent playing time as a Jr.
    Sheppard who'll be a RS-Soph.
    Derrek Odom who'll be a RS-Soph

That's 4 players in the '08 season that will still have 2 years or more left of eligibility. So I'm not as worried about that position as I am the CB one.

At least at LB, we'll have Cutrera, Riley and Beckwith with decent playing experience.

There were some decent LB prospects especially MLB but we didn't really target anyone. I was surprised too by this. I guess Scott will probably be converted and LB will be our #1 target in next year's recruiting class

I wish we could have Galippo, that guy is going to be an amazing LB

I remain excited about Shomari Clemons; he distinguished himself at the La. Tex all star game, among a crowd of other stars, he caught my eye. Announcers kept calling his number for another tackle. But that was from the safety spot. I saw his name above, and I just want to see him in a Tiger uniform. I'll watch his career and pull for him to succeed.

Why was Ali Highsmith left off the list? He's back. And it isn't DL's that will be moving to LB, it will be TE's that we have recruited as LSU has signed a boatload of athletes that were listed as TE's by the recruiting services that I think some will be moved to the LB position.

My list is what it will look like AFTER the 2007 season with the current set of recruits.

My reference to the DL was possibly a smallish DE being converted to maybe a MLB or OLB is they are fast enough. But a TE being brought in to play LB is definitely a possibility.

Any reason why Earl Patin was never on our radar screen?

Slow, not very good lateral speed in particular.

OK, so maybe just a tad bid overrated by rivals then.
