As the weekend played out, LSU's play looked better and better. It does seem though, that WE didn't get a pass for first game jitters/kinks, whereas it was never a made point for most other teams first games, regardless of how uninspired their play.

With one week in the books we now have a clear winner for Heisman. The two annual choices from USC and Notre Dame are listed below.

Evan Sharpley was 10 of 13 for 92 yards and -58 yards rushing in a loss to Georgia Tech.

John David Booty was OUTSTANDING going 21 of 32 for an AMAZING 206 yards and (GET YOUR CALCULATORS OUT) 3 TOUCHDOWNS. The sole interception was a result of garbage time with the third string offensive line and was intentionally thrown to give the defense another opportunity to demonstrate how DOMINANT the Pac-10 defenses are. Voters should also consider that Booty carried the ball for a HUGE two yard gain on his one rushing attempt.

Kirk Herbstreit called the performance "The greatest he's seen since last year when Booty averaged an UNBELIEVABLE six yards per attempt."

Lou Holtz submitted his vote for Sharpley saying that this year's 10-win season will be one for the ages and that there's no way anyone can catch Sharpley after his perfromance last weekend.

Doug Flutie was unable to vote as he couldn't reach the lever.

Brent Musberger was qouted as saying "Gargle gogum blah susloosh slurp" while wiping his face with Pete Carroll's USC shirt.

If a broadcast like ESPN was interested in hiring quality commentators, they could find a ton. They're all about money NOT quality and will say or do whatever they need to generate $$$.

Anybody with a brain knows the Pac-1 or 2 can't hold a candle to the SEC. They also know that the Pac-1 and occasionally 2 don't come close to measuring up to SEC defenses. That's also the reason that the 2003 Pac-1 champ would have lost to LSU in the BCS championship.

I don't care what the idiots say as they rarely can support their assertions. The only time I have a real problem with them is when they intentionally lie in an attempt to sway opinions. They have way too much influence on voters and recruits. I wish the NCAA would step in but judging from the lack of action taken against Notre and USC, they never will.

Oh well, the SEC will just have to continue doing what they always do...kick ass!

    My bad...wrong guy.

Regardless...who really gives a crap?? Les Miles made the commit and BM is a broadcaster who is apparently from the west coast. He can have his opinion ...and it will make it that much sweeter to hear him back petal when the tigers take out their precious trojans in January. I know I enjoyed watching those "so called" experts back petal when FLA took out tOSU last year.

    Re: Anybody here Muffberger?

Wanted to get back to this sooner but wife roped me into what I consider an obscene word....painting.

Agreed that I misspoke about this game being Cal's season, but it has been a thorn in their (and the Pac-10's) side for an entire year. Kinda like UGA's 2004 game against us after beating them twice in 03. Cal pointed to this game for a long time, and didn't really crush Tenn, but I agree Cal looks very good. Ok Pac-2 then.

You misquoted me. I said "all the crappy teams". General consensus seems that the Pac-10 is USC, Cal, and everyone else. So I laughed when Muffy acted like the round robin in that conference was such an awesome thing. Yeah you get to play all the low level teams in your conference, and no conference championship game where you may play a top team twice, at a neutral site. It's mostly the way it was presented, and by Muffberger.

I thought Brent was really funny. The treehugger and hippy comments were pretty bold and hilarious! Funniest of all thoygh was when he made a point to explain the new timeout graphic below the teams names at top. As if it wasn't really obvious what it was. He actually spent a few minutes explaining it!

Would someone explain the love affair between the PAC 10 and the media? Its not just Muffberger, its all the media types. In my eyes the talking heads want the Punk 10 to outshine the SEC. :dis:

How or where is the SEC getting punked by the media? The only team that gets constant love from the media in the Pac-10 is USC (deservedly so since they are the dominant team of this decade). Everywhere I read it's generally acknowledged the SEC is the one of the strongest conferences or the strongest top to bottom.
