I was talking about the conference in general against other conferences in football. The conference overall is pretty good in baseball.
Did I say USM was a joke? No, I said the conference is a joke. As a Tiger in Purvis, MS, one of many, I might add, I get it all the time from the USM fans about how the SEC schools (in state) won't play them. I acknowledge USM plays a tough OOC schedule, and about every ten years or so, they actually beat somebody decent. You're a USM Tiger, so you should remember the silly bumper stickers around H'burg after they beat Bama a few years back. So much pride in a victory against a team that won 3 games that year?:rofl: Please! Then there was the game that they ALMOST beat a so-so Nebraska. I was at that game, rooting for USM, as I do at several home games per year. But that being said, they are year in and year out near the top, in a mediocre at best conference. With teams like Louisville leaving the last couple of years, the conference is getting weaker and weaker. Southern Miss to the Top!:thumb: By the way, if you're going to red me, at least pay attention to what I said. I plainly said "Conference USA is a joke", and you're claiming I said something against USM. I stated that, in fact, they have winning records against Ole Miss and MSU, and that they beat LSU the last time we played them. I don't see how that came across as having anything against USM. I said that my wife works there, and in fact we go to nearly all home games. (Of course free tickets doesn't hurt) I root for them everytime they take the field. (until '09, when they take the field at TS!)

Cool. My wife, as I said, works there, and we love the school. Great perks for employees. She will soon hold a PhD without dropping a .01 as a benefit of being employed there. I sing the National Anthem at a lot of the basketball and baseball games as a voluteer, and enjoy going to all the sporting events there. (Again, free tickets when I sing!) I just refuse to become so caught up in it that I think they should be in a New Years Day bowl game everytime they win 8 games. I sincerely wish they were in the SEC. It would help their program, and they would do better than several of the teams currently in the conference. Alas, that ain't gonna happen.
