Haven't heard too much, but Don Long has an opinion. See: DandyDon.com "True freshmen whom I expect to see playing time in 2004 are: Lavelle Hawkins (WR/SPT, 6'0", 189), AlI Highsmith (LB, 6'1", 225), Joe Lawrence (DB/SPT, 6'0", 195), Early Doucet (WR, 6'1", 213), Mit Cole (TE", 6'4, 260), Xavier Carter (WR, 6'3", 199), Jacob Hester (FB, 6'0", 225), Chevis Jackson (DB, 6'0", 185), Curtis Taylor (6'3", 195), and P.J. Zimmermann (DS, 6'3", 245), In my opinion, true freshmen Ryan Miller, Herman Johnson, Tremaine Johnson, Charles Alexander, Brett Helms, Glenn Dorsey, Tyson Jackson, Quinn Johnson, Matt Stoltz, Craig Steltz, Jeffery Jack, Tim Washington, Jordan Reever, Marlon Favorite and Luke Sanders are going to be great players in the future for LSU, but will probably receive a redshirt year in 2004."
I've heard that Brett Helms was getting some reps with the 2nd team over the last couple of days due to Will Arnold being held out of practice due to a concussion. Take that for what it's worth, but in my mind, if a true freshman is getting reps with the 2nd team, then he's probably making an impression with the coaching staff.
