Anyone notice the different lettering on the jerseys?

I understand your point, but could you imiagne Notre Dame or Penn St. with names on the back? Could you imiagne the Yankees with names on the back? I can't. I know it's a little detail, but it's tradition way older than you or me.

Football players don't need their names on their jerseys.
Football is played to a universal language in every stadium across the country.
Let some opposing player break away for a couple of big plays... and I'm sure you'll hear, "Hey, anybody wanna try to tackle that *********".

    No, I'm 143 years old.

Actually, I'm not a big baseball fan, so I really don't care what they do. Even so, it would be much easier to keep up with the starting players for a baseball team than a college football team.

I understand that there's tradition in some of that, but I also know that some traditions are outdated and need to be changed, in my humble opinion.

I agree--somewhat. I think SOME teams with names on the back would just look odd (notre dame for example.) But some smaller schools without the names really erk me... I used to hate it when LSU's baseball uni's didn't have them cuz my mom and sister were forever asking me....."Who's number 4?" "who's number 10," etc.
