not arrogant, but when even chics understand how sec football is say better than- let's say, notre lame football- it shoudl be pretty simple-- we're good and we know it. i love watching NFL hearing -- and cam newton throws a strike to brandon lafell. i love seeing all the sec players flourish i root for LSU, the sec, and whoever plays notre lame
I don’t want the SEC touched period. I don’t like expansion or anything about it. I don’t even want to open the door and let A&M in, but it appears they want to lay at our door step and be a door mat, so ok....I guess. No team is leaving the SEC, the ACC isn’t breaking apart, too expensive to leave the ACC at this point. And why would a team like FSU, VT, or Miami want to leave the ACC & come to the SEC lowering their chances of a title run even more so. On the same token, I wouldn’t mind seeing some of these other conferences merge put more talent in their in-conference schedules. I think that more SEC schools should schedule tougher OOC matchups. Look at Arky – New Mexico, Missouri St, and Troy. Really ??????? Arkansas has two legit games to worry about this year, at Bama and at LSU.
Its really the hype that now surrounds college football. Since basically the BCS era begin, college football has grown more and more every year and now has become the most popular sport in the country. The SEC has dominated the BCS era, and in today's society, its all about "what have you done for me lately" But yes, the SEC was not a powerhouse as a group in the 80’s and before, as they are today
No. The SEC has been the leading football conference since 1925. Just not as dominant as the last decade. You were in Big-8 country, so that is what you watched. We watched SEC football in the deep south. In any case, the SEC has been a football powerhouse for a long time. And number one on the all-time list. Conference All-Time Rankings
It ain't bragging if you can back it up! The sec has the bcs trophys to back it up. What coach in America wouldn't leave the team he is with right now to coach at lsu, bama or several other sec schools next year if there was an opening? I bet there isn't 10 coaches in America that wouldn't come to the sec instead of where they are.
If saban left for the NFL , how much you wanna bet chip Kelly would leave the ducks out in the cold and haul his arse down to bama in a heartbeat. Look what big blue had to settle for. Miles wouldn't leave the sec to go back home!
FIFY Miles loves BR & LSU. So does his family, he(they) are family now. CLM has built his legacy here, and is in it to win it! All I can remember, was when the talks of CLM going to Michigan were making way around Tiger Nation last year, my heart was in my stomach. I'll never forget that feeling, and the feeling I had when he released his statement (During the BCSNCG) that he was staying. To The Hat :thumb:
I do not like the expansion of the SEC because it is expansion for dollars vs expansion to have better teams in the conference. No ACC teams are leaving the ACC for the SEC. Okla and Texas are not coming to the SEC. The SEC is not going to cherry pick any teams from the Big 10. The problem with the SEC expansion is that we are left with picking up teams from the Big East and rejects from the Big 12 as those conferences fall apart. We are adding A&M and Missouri for TV dollars and that is it. Neither team fits well with the SEC and Missouri certainly does not make the SEC any better. The SEC stands to improve their confernece very little to none with the current talk of expansion and from that standpoint I think the SEC will look like losers when the expansion is over and done. I think A&M and WVA have the ability to add to the SEC and will compete over time, but what other two teams do we really stand the chance of getting in the SEC that would make the conference stronger? Baylor? Rutgers? UConn? TCU? Our choices are limited and not good at all.
It's all part of the Pac10/12/14's conspiracy to dilute the SEC and loosen it's stronghold on the :crystal:
I hear what you’re saying, but with all due respect, the SEC does not need any additions to gain strength. We are plenty strong. On the other hand, It is the other conferences, who need to merge and add to find strength to compete in all areas of reason with the SEC. I am no fan of the expansion either, but I do not believe it will make the SEC less significant, or a losers by any means. You can merge the ACC & Big Ten, I still think the SEC is a stronger conference. And that is not arrogance talking
