does anyone believe these ratings. ive never understood much less thought they were accurate. dont they poll like 1000 different people. or who really knows maybe a 100? and what do they ask? what were you watching? most men watch 10 shows simultaneously at any given time i can watch top shots, deadliest catch and a tivo'd pawn stars without missing a beat. this has to be less accurate than voting booths in florida. are these guys influenced like the government via pacs? if so much money is determined by these ratings, why dont we know more about them and how accurate they really are. someone clue me in. is it still this nielsen ratings crap?
Accuracy is a problem as with any selected demographic measure but those same methods are used for all shows like Game 6. Nielsen ratings - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
so you dont know either. but since the same method is used its reliable? who do they poll and how do they determine it? do they take only one show per person at a given time? it wouldnt even be accurate if that was even possible--to watch one show only. so 1000 people represent 100 million people? thats pretty weak. i didnt read the wiki page btw. im pretty sure it wont say anything of note.
Scott Van Pelt said in the 15 minutes which includes a few minutes before he announced and a few minutes after he announced the rating was a 9.6. If he would have done that on a Saturday night in November the rating would have been a 3. There wasn't crap on last night and i still didn't watch it. I watched Bikini Destinations on HDNET. Nothing like hot brazilian women in High Definition.
if this has already been posted, oops, i didnt see it. the pundits are not being kind. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-lebrondecision070910 a scathing article.
So I guess I will do the research for you. It is flawed no doubt and new technologies are changing but making it a little more reliable in the long-run. 40% of the world is covered with TV meters and dairies and only about 30,000 meters in the US daily. The have people send in detailed diaries as well in sweep periods which consist of 1.6M households in the US. We are currently in a sweep period.
Nielsen sent us a survey with a 10 dollar bill in it. I kept the 10 and tossed the survey. You have to mark down everything you watch, along with times. No thanks.
There are that many dairies in the world, dang I never knew that. Ps: I know you meant diaries I just couldn't help myself.
i thought i was rereading my own post/article. that dude could have at least cited me. maybe i should write for those yahoos.
