Nutt didn't meet with the parents it appears only the AD did. According to the ESPN article Nutt told the players to hit the road if they weren't happy. Broyles should have never met witht these parents, now he has empowered them into thinking they can go to him evertime they have an issue with the coach, bad mistake. Dissension can kill a team ... paranoia will destroy 'ya !

Broyles denied that he set a meeting with the parents, he claims they just "showed up" so he agreed to see them in order to avoid being rude.

The parents (and their athlete children) weren't upset about playing time, they were upset about being mislead. They each claim they were told one thing before they signed (go figure), and a different course of action occurred afterwards.

Malzahn's hiring was transparent from the outset. I mean, who didn't know that Nutt hired malzahn to deflect criticism from his (Nutt's) playcalling and to secure 3 blue-chip recruits in the process? Is there anybody that didn't see this for what it was?

To me, the bottom line is that he allowed it and it never should have happened- parents, coach(es), admin. being in the same room at the same time to discuss that issue. I feel he could have taken a stance without being rude.

The problem goes back to one equating to the other......at least from the parents' perspective- from my understanding.

Yeah, I also read the same thing about the parents and how they just "showed up" to see Broyles.

So who hasn't been told one thing and then something different transpired. It happens.

They have two bad a$$ running backs with a good offensive line. Who wouldn't utilize those guys. It's a team sport. What's next, the players sign contracts with guarantees on how many passes will be thrown to them in a season or how many carries they will get? :nope:

As far as the Malzahn thing, it is definitely obvious to most people that it was all a big deal struck up to get the recruits and a so called "innovative" offensive coach.

    crazy

Thank God this isn't the Marines, because if two young Mrines took an in house issue and complained in a manner that made it public or cried to momma, my lance corporals and corporals would have been beating their ass.

Then they could go complain to the company commander, then they could have gotten their ass beat again.

This is very typical of our whole society today, we are a bunch of P*****S. We cry about everything, and if it doesn't go our way we cry to momma and daddy to bail us out. I hope those seniors and juniors on that team make an example out of those 2 players and make their life hell until they either quit or transfer.

You are so right! I just had a parent come with their kid to exit (quit) school because he refused to take the punishment I was assigning (Two days in a clinic) when he should have been suspended but I chose the clinic instead since he had good grades (A's, B's, and C's). I won't get into specifics but he was wrong and all he had to do was walk around in the designated area but chose to be defiant to an administrator and continue to walk in a prohibited area to go to his vehicle. Parent brought him to my office and allowed the kid (Standing up) tell me he wasn't going to the behavior clinic). I told him I'd speak to his father (Who was also sitting in my office) but I wasn't arguing with him. They left, went to school bd. office- Supervisor calls to tell me she's backing me 100%......they return and he quits. His mother then calls and says she wanted to thank me for "Making their year and hoped I would be able to do the same for other kids". Go figure??

    BTW, the kid was white.

    The Timeline

Mitch Mustain becomes a hero in Arkansas high school athletics. Girls who use to date Bill Clinton start calling. Bill Clinton starts calling.
Houston Nutt gets an early commit from the kid and home electrical hookup sales jump 21% in two months, bringing the total number of homes in Arkansas with electricity to 21,451.
Charlie Weis gets hired at Notre Dame and immediate shows up at the Mustain’s front door. He’s too large to fit through the doorway, so they meet on the porch. Charlie plants visions of sugarplums in Mitch’s head about playing in a spread offense and Mustain starts buying Tom Brady jerseys.
Nutt panics and starts thinking that Nebraska’s offer wasn’t all that bad.
Looking for an edge, any edge, Nutt slides into his OJ mask and starts digging through the Mustain’s garbage at night. He finds a picture of Mustain with his high school coach, Gus Malzahn, taken near a local swimming pool. Malzahn has his arm around the boy, both are wearing speedos. Bingo!
Nutt meets with the M & M corporation. He promises them the moon, only to find out that the moon had already been promised by Urban Meyer to one of his recruits. So Nutt settles for offering the OC job to Malzahn, the qb job to Mustain, a promise of installing a spread offense better than Charlie’s, and two extra scholarships for Mitch’s friends, which can be used for schooling or redeemed for cash.
The M & M Corporation agrees and Nutt and Malzahn immediately begin to prepare for Arkansas’ first game against USC. Homes with electricity now total 27,698.
Disaster rules… and after the game, Frank Broyles rushes to Nutt’s office, throws open the door, and says, “Why are you two sitting in the same chair?” Malzahn jumps up and moves to a side chair with his palms sweating profusely.
    Plan B begins… a running game.
Arkansas begins winning. Homes with electricity top 30,000. Malzahn starts sharing a desk with the secretary. The children of the Springdale Spread feel betrayed and run home to their mommies. The mommies meet with Nutt to tell him he reminds them a lot of their first husbands, minus the amnesia.
This time Nutt doesn’t panic. He enters the spin zone. He knows gullible parents when he sees them. He sells, they buy.
    Well, all but one.
His electricity has been shut off.

Bingo. Caddy nailed it. Winner declared. Prize in the mail.

Everything about this deal goes back to Nutt. While there's certainly plenty of blame to go around, Nutt created the problem.....appears he lied to some folks who are now unhappy.

The snuffies have problems. How am I going to sleep tonite ? :hihi:
