Re: Arrest Warant for Derrick Odem III No team, school, coaching staff or fan base deserves something like this incident. There are several issues – a crime being committed is surely one of them. But the young players must also consider the effect their actions have on their team, their school, the coaches and the fans. The negative publicity their actions generate and how they affect the performance of the team, the reputation of the school and the coaches are all factors to be considered. You always hope the individual can get their act together, but never at the expense of the team or school. Being young is never an excuse for being stupid. Coach Miles has generally dealt with these situations quickly to avert prolonged negative publicity. I hope he follows the same path in this instance.
Re: Arrest Warant for Derrick Odem III Just a bad deal and something is not adding up. If the guy called into LSU and reported this a few days ago and wanted Odem to pay for the damages or have charges put on him why hasn’t CLM stepped in a made Odem take responsibility for this if in fact he is responsible for those damages, I mean this could happen to any of us, my neighbor now has a beat up car if we have a disagreement and I tell him I am coming over to whoop that arse he calls the police and tells them I am responsible for the damages to his property it is kind his word against mine and what do I do pay for damages I did not do or go to jail and court?
Re: Arrest Warant for Derrick Odem III Odom should definately be sent packing, and I suspect he will in the very near future. Don't know about the others. I am sure Miles will wait and see what role they played in all this before he decides how to handle them.
Re: Arrest Warant for Derrick Odem III Les is his coach, not his guardian or his lawyer. I suspect Odom didn't tell Les the truth about what happened.
Re: Arrest Warant for Derrick Odem III Whaaaaaa? The indication is that Odom definately damaged the car. I have not heard anyone (except Odom) suggest he did not. Secondly, how can Miles force him to take responsibility. If someone does not want to plead guilty, he does not have too and no coach can force him too.
Re: Arrest Warant for Derrick Odem III The most troubling thing to me is that all of these incidents have been perpetrated by Miles recruits. His reputation at Oklahoma State was not exactly one of a heavy-handed disciplinarian, to say the least.... I have defended him on soonerfans.com and have stood by him (against the players at times as well) on this forum. I'm starting to get worried.
Re: Arrest Warant for Derrick Odem III anyone care to fill in the blanks? it seems strange that this happened a month ago if several players were involved. id be surprised if 4 or more players were involved and word had not gotten out to the team atlarge. any indication clm knew this was coming?
Re: Arrest Warant for Derrick Odem III While your "worry" doesn't appear to be unfounded, I wouldn't be overly concerned. Not to put "blinders" on, but this quite possibly could be case of coincidence. The way I see it, is that if Miles didn't care and purposely recruited questionable character players, then he WOULDN'T be kicking them off the team as fast as he did Zhamal Thomas and Giddens and he wouldn't have indefinately suspended RP and RJF either. If our players are getting arrested and breaking the law and our coach does NOTHING (i.e. FSU, Miami, etc.), THEN you have grounds to worry. Yes, unfortunately, we've had a lot of off-field issues, but some of that is brought to the foreground because of our pre-season ranking and spot in the national eye; reporters are all over LSU like flies these days. When Chase Pittman got in that fight at a night club last year, you just KNOW that it brought attention to the program and it's players ever since. Now, I'm NOT blaming Chase for today's issues. Not by a long shot. But when you hear something like that happening, you tend to keep your eyes and ears out for it to happen again.
