Re: Arthur Cantrelle-RB (1968-1971)?? I saw there was a game where LSU went to Notre Dame and lost 0-3. I asked my dad about that game and he was getting excited recapping it. I think he said that the next year, Notre Dame came into Baton Rouge, and on national TV, LSU beat 'em 28-8 or something. I also asked him if he remembered Cantrelle, and he said, "Yes, indeed! Number 24! That's why 24 is one of my favorite numbers..." He seemed disappointed I had never heard of him. lol But that question led into one of those stories I have heard a thousand times about how great Casinova was. The one where LSU played Alabama, who, at that time, always ran the wishbone. He said Casinova was in the backfield everytime they pitched it to one of the RBs, who he eventually knocked out of the game in the second quarter. Funny how you old timers get excited about those days. :hihi:
Re: Arthur Cantrelle-RB (1968-1971)?? It was a real exiting time to be a tiger.Maybe we get excited because it distracted us from the war in Viet Nam. Those of you who fought in the middle east probably can relate better to this and are probably more hardcore tigers than your other contemporaries. This year's Alabama team reminds me a lot of those Cholly Mac teams. We never could beat Bama though and when we finally did, the Bear died shortly afterwards. Re: Arthur Cantrelle-RB (1968-1971)?? That was Rice that was demolished 77-0. Seemed like a punk fight at the time.
Re: Arthur Cantrelle-RB (1968-1971)?? I was a sophomore living in Kirby Smith and I painted that score on the flourescent lights above my bed- in flourescent paint. Every night that year when I turned the lights off to go to sleep, 61-17 was the last thing I saw. Sweet dreams. You youngsters are beginning to learn what it means to relly hate Ole Miss. Maybe you'll end up being like us and just want to spit hot toddy out of your mouth. Why do you think Mississippi has never been able to cooperate with Louisiana with contraflow evacuations...
Re: Arthur Cantrelle-RB (1968-1971)?? I remember both of those Notre Dame games. Great games. Both of them. When LSU returned from South Bend they were greeted as if they had won. If I am not mistaken, after that game ND dropped in the polls and LSU rose in the polls.
Re: Arthur Cantrelle-RB (1968-1971)?? Yeah, my dad said the paper the next day stated something like: "Notre Dame #1, LSU #1a" The game must have been good.
Re: Arthur Cantrelle-RB (1968-1971)?? You act like you'll never get older. 30 or 40 years from now, you'll be telling people How great the decade of 2000 was for LSU football...and make them bow in reverence at the mention of the late and great SabanFan.
Re: Arthur Cantrelle-RB (1968-1971)?? Put Jacob Hester on a massive amount of steroids and you have Art Cantrelle..................he ran like he was trying to start a car accident.:geaux:
