Here's an article in the Advocate titled Call might come for freshmen. It talks about how they may be asked to play and give up a redshirt year. Here are some great quotes from Travis Daniels. "What I tell the freshmen now is you're one play away from being in the game," Daniels said. "Don't count on that redshirt too much. "Having a redshirt is good because you get to learn all the plays and everything. But you're here to play for the team -- you don't come here to play for yourself." and my favorite "I play for the name on the side of my helmet, not the one on the back of my jersey." http://www.2theadvocate.com/stories/091103/spo_fresh001.shtml
It took a couple years but it really seems like Nick Saban's attitude is being reflected by the team. As it becomes all of his recruits I beleive we will see it more. Looks like Travis has his mind right, LSU wins titles, not Travis Daniels. I am sure many players would give up all those personal awards for a national title. I am sure Carson Palmer would have given up the Heisman for the National Title trophy.
Travis sounds like a guy with his head on sraight. The type of player we all want wearing th Purple and Gold. Great attitude. It's that kind of attitude that will take him far and onto great things. Geaux Travis!
That was a great article. I also liked this quote from Travis Daniels: "I said, it doesn't matter if I have to play one game, one play or one series, I'm here for the team." Championship teams are made of players like that.
