Your original argument was about players' ability to come back from injury. JV actually improved from '04 & '05 to '06, after his injury - IMO. Thus, he came back from the injury just fine. Sure, he was never the same back that he was in 03, but that has absolutely nothing to do with his injury. There's a lot of speculation about why he hasn't looked as good since. Personally, I believe it is because he had a superior Oline than we've had the past couple seasons, as well as having more drive (wanted it more) & being on a confidence high at the end of that season.
I agree with you Parso, it also builds confidence knowing all the other backs are hurt and you are the guy without having to look over his shoulder much. After his injury it hurt him mentally seeing all of these guys getting reps and had to climb his way back.
I'm not so sure. Vincent was never again as quick as he was before the injury. It was either the injury itself or his weight gain that slowed him. Of course he had to get bigger to survive in the SEC, it just cost him his speed.
I think what Cparso is trying to say is that Vincent was slower in 2004 and 2005 compared to 2003,before his knee injury. He lost a step or two before he ever had the knee injury which was at the very end of 2005; and I actually agree with him that in 2006 he looked a little bit quicker than he did in 2005 or 2004.
