WAFB reported that the schools and faculty are going to wait untill after the storm hits to decide for sure whether to cancel it. So we'll likely have a decision I'd say by thursday night or friday morning.
After reading just the first two paragraphs of the Governor's bio, this may not be BS after all...LOL. Hint: He's got a little Crimson in his Tide...
This is what DD had to say about the gov of AL thing. "Hurricane Ivan is scheduled to hit land around mid-morning Thursday and a final decision on whether the LSU-Auburn game will be played Saturday at Auburn will be made late Thursday afternoon or early Friday morning. There are some reports that the Governor of Alabama might step forward and cancel the game as well as the Alabama-Western Carolina game. All classes have already been cancelled at Auburn for the remainder of the week and that is one reason why I think it would be in the best interest of Auburn to agree to move the game to November 06."
At this point there is no doubt there will not be a game in Auburn, Al this Saturday. Ole Ivan picked up soem wet cigars in Cuba and is on his way to shove them down tubby's throat and shut his piehole.
Following are comments on the status of the game from Auburn Athletics Director David Housel: "We plan to play the game if at all possible and if it is the reasonable, right thing to do. We will assess all the variables before making a decision. If there are trees in the yard that's one thing; if there are trees on the house, that's another thing. If we can get a sufficient number of security personnel in Auburn, and if we have the basic necessities to run a game, things such as power and water, we intend to play. We plan to play if it is a matter of convenience or inconvenience, but if it is a matter of health, life or safety, we will not play. We intend to wait until the last possible moment to make a decison. We want to get all of the information possible, so we can make a good, educated decison, rather than a quick, and what might be incorrect, decision. We may well wait until the storm has passed through in order to make an accurate assessment of the damage and the number of security personnel who would be available to work the event. Auburn will make the call on whether or not to postpone the game, based on weather, health and safety concerns. If it is not played on Saturday, the SEC Office, Auburn and LSU will discuss the best time to make it up. Those options and possibilities have not been discussed at this point. We intend to play the game as scheduled if possible, and if it is the right thing to do."
Yea somebody's scared. Tubby's so scared of having to play an improved LSU team in November he is willing to place a lot of people in jeopardy to play us this Saturday. Do not be surprised if Governor Riley steps in a cancels the game. :yelwink2:
The word is SCARED and we'll NEVER be scared of AU as long as th' Tubster is your man... PS If you're still in Mobile you really ARE one of those stupid jack@ss rednecks that we hear about... PS When we play you WHENEVER IT IS WE'LL STILL KICK YOUR @SS....
I don't run from hurricanes. It's the classic battle of man vs. nature. After I beat Ivan and am looking foward to Auburn beating the Tigers on Saturday.
