No way he was sandbagging a close SEC game. You just don't do that. The offense will improve, but not because they weren't showing anything.
Re: Breaking News You have really jumped all over this about folks saying we have offensive problems. Well look at it like this, do you think we could beat Florida or USC right now if it came down to our QB play?
Re: Breaking News First, QB does not equal offense. Second, you're trying to compare LSU's offense to two of the best in the country. Are they at that level? Probably not. Does that mean the LSU offense has "problems" or is "broken"? Absolutely NOT. Lastly, we should all take not that LSU didn't have the best offense in the SEC last year. In fact, I think it was the fourth or fifth ranked offense in this conference alone. Nationally, I think we finished in the low 20's. By contrast, I think Tulsa ended up with a top-five offense. Do you think LSU could have beaten Tulsa last year? Offense isn't everything. All a team needs is ENOUGH, and LSU has done nothing to convince me that they are incapable of scoring points.
Just because we have 5 teams in TOP 10 doesnt mean we are better. It could mean there are not as many good teams elsewhere. I think the SEC has some teams that will improve and by the end of the season the conference will be very strong. And to be honest none of the SEC teams have played anyone yet except for Bama and that was against a Clemson team that was not as good as advertised. We will start to see now that SEC conference play begins.
Hey, isn't the following statement pretty much the definition of "better?" If everyone else isn't as good as us, how does that not make us better? Just curious.
He may be comparing the SEC to last year's version. I agree that the conference as a whole doesn't look as strong as last year, but with the possible exception of the Big XII, the rest of the country is in the same boat...keeping us at the top in a national comparison. With all the youth, the SEC should be even stronger than ever for the next two-three years.
You got that right. The SEC has hauled in A TON of young talent over the last two years in recruiting that will begin to surface next season and may even begin to show by this season's end. Over the next three to four years the SEC will be hands down (in my opinion) the best conference in the country without there being any room for debate. This season we may be a bit down due to youth and transition but once that youth gets experienced and the transition takes place there's going to be A LOT of very good teams in the SEC.
