Because it was revealed that a marquis player had some very serious questions regarding his eligibility halfway through the season. They did nothing, and that player went on to win the Heisman and the NC.

I really think this will all eventually blow up in Auburn's face. They're basically renting the 2010 title. Go ask USC fans.

I was talking with a college coach the other day about this. When its quiet like this, the NCAA is getting its things in order. This is why teams appeal, instead of taking the NCAA to court. The NCAA will have names, dates, times, records etc.
Many times it only takes one person to slip up, it snowballs from there.

This may not be related to OSU or Auburn, but the NCAA just penalized Georgia Tech and they made Georgia tech "vacate" the last three games of the season....

.....Trouble is Georgia Tech lost two of those three games. I understand, in principle, vacating wins....

....But how do you vacate a loss? :insane:

The NCAA is so hung up on their own jargon and buzzwords that they actually believe their own language...to the point that they act on it without actually realizing it makes NO SENSE AT ALL !!!!!!!!!

Thank you NCAA, for making our coach, Les Miles, sound more coherent and clear in his post game interviews !!!! Now that's serious egg no matter how you look at it.

I thought that was where you were going, but I didn't want to jump to conclusions.

That's on Slive, not the NCAA. The reinstatement committee bases their judgment on what reports are submitted to them by the school. They don't have an investigative arm, so to speak.

A somewhat interesting side story to that.

The NCAA said in their release they ran into a combative attitude at GT when dealing with their compliance department. One of those individuals, the Associate Athletic Director of Compliance—since resigned—was a guy named Paul Parker.

He's now in the same position, at Auburn, who we all know is dealing with eligibility issues.

That's a strange hire. It almost sounds like Auburn went through the same vetting process as we did with Mike Price. None.

I saw also they had to vacate their ACC title as well, which is probably the main penalty.

Which is why I don't understand the mentality of people who think that somehow Auburn got away with some kind of perfect crime, while Cecil was too stupid to keep his big mouth shut for a couple of weeks before he lawyered up.

I wouldn't be so sure my friend. Couple of things I have learned from a friend of mine here in Atlanta (who is close friends with a memember of the Duke coaching staff):

1.) The NCAA moves slowly on these things (i.e. USC).

2.) If not enough evidence was produced on Newton AND the NCAA had upheld their initial suspension of him, and it caused Newton's draft stock to plummet, the NCAA WOULD THEN be held liable for his draft position (i.e. THEY would be required to pay Newton millions). THAT's why they re-instated him immediately and made him eligible.

3.) Auburn's problems go WAY deep. Deeper than Cam Newton, the football team and atheletic department. This isn't just rouge boosters---this is on a federal level with the amounts of money that has exchanged hands and the paper trail. Will it ALL lead to Auburn?? No telling. But it's going to be a LONG fact-finding investigation.

So, rest assured, I'm convienced something WILL happen to Auburn and I'm pretty sure their title will be stripped before long. Look, it took the NCAA almost 8 years to strip USC of their title and Bush of his Heisman over HOUSING!!! Auburn's f*cked. It'll happen. Just not fast enough for some of us (myself included).

You are correct when you say this is going to take awhile.

Did any of you read the indictments on the Auburn board of trustees that were also on the board of the bank that is under investigation.

They are proceeding with the bank investigation and these are the same guys running auburn football. They have wiretaps of these gentlemen but they can not release them because of the federal investigation. When that is done Auburn boosters are going to jail and players that were paid at the casino are going to jail for tax evasion . This is much bigger than just a little money.

Auburn is going to crumble after this all comes out and they may have USC being looked at as amatuers in the cheating game.

Their are grade irregularities and suspicious credits to be eligible. Their are casino payments to recruits, trips recruits are going on with boosters.

Before this is over the SEC conference will be hit hard because of the fallout from Auburn.

And Slive has stood thewre and been in charge of all the corruption.

You dont think the officials poor game officiating ties into all this.

SEC office is corrupt and the Bama schools have been getting preferential treatment for a long long long time.

    Both of them.
