You're absolutely right and I apolpgize. I lurk here every now and then but made my first post in at least three years. That was a mistake. I just have a hard time not defending my school when I think it's not justified. mIt often turns to bama stuff because they are our biggest rival and don't always report things honestly and fairly. Of course neither do Auburn boards and fans. In the end we are all just biased fans.

Again, I'm sorry I contributed to stirring the pot.

Well that's what I kept trying to tell you. You kept harping on the process (hanging around Saban too much?) and I was saying OK I accept that they have their process because Auburn has not received a LOI concerning Cam. Did you even read the article I posted where the NCAA admitted they didn't always follow thier own process?
So investigatiors were in Montrgomery. What does that prove or mean. You do know, I assume, they were down in Louisanna awhile back checking on the recruiting of Trovon Reed and another kid. Even the high school coach who did everything he could to get the kids to go to LSU told them Auburn did nothing wrong that he knew of. I do know for a fact that NCAA folks are starting to try to check out the HBO story so maybe it has to do with that. Funny thing about that one is that none of the four former players who said on HBO (for money) Auburn broke the rules, will even talk to them.
Bottomline is.....if Auburn has broken any rules, we should be punished. But I resent the on and on insinuations that we are guilty of breaking the rules in the Cam Newton case. Nothing personal, but i tell you like I tell a lot of my rival friends (and I do mean friends),,,,,,put up or shut up!!!!

I understand where you're coming from, no hard feelings. Point is nothing substantive has come to light since Chizik's run-in. All we have now is a bunch of back-and-forth that's better suited to Auburn or Bama boards IMHO.

However this turns out in the end, I think we'd better all settle in for a very long wait. Glaciers move faster on a yearly basis than NCAA investigations.

I should give you rep just for putting up with following Finebaum on Twitter.

Hang on to your hat PT. It's about to get worse from the media's standpoint. I know where, and from whom, Danny Sheridan got his information from he put out today on Finebaum. Danny is certainly out there on some things but I tend to believe what he's said today when I found out where he got the info from.

If you'll notice, I've always pointed to the procedure stated by the NCAA.

"Put up or shut up?" That could be said for the "Auburn isn't being investigated" and so and so said it. I still haven't seen that.

I'd guess the question of the hour is how much of a circus the media days might be tomorrow.

Hey, I'm a customer of Tom Buckalew and he's a really nice guy. I visited his store around Christmas and he told me all about the suit fittings for Cam and Nick Fairley. I seriously doubt he would have told me that so soon after the fact if he was giving the stuff away. He's bright enough to know that would be a violation that could get Auburn in a lot of trouble.

I don't think that dog will hunt.

If what Sheridan said is true:

an even a bigger story is that the NCAA is feeding information to a someone involved with gambling. For up to 25 years?

Given their stance to member institutions:

NCAA Bylaw 10.3 - Gambling Activities

Staff members of a member conference, staff members of the athletics department of a member
institution and student-athletes shall not knowingly: (Revised: 4/22/98 effective 8/1/98)

    (a) Provide information to individuals involved in organized gambling activities concerning
    intercollegiate athletics competition;

This does need to be investigated.

And where did Sheridan go to school? Bama of course, and he is still smarting on his huge losses he took afer making bets on the last Iron Bowl with bama ahead 24-0 or 24-3 whichever it was. The Red Elepnant Club is desperate to discredit Auburn because we are hanging right in there with bama in recruiting and making a mockery of bammers refering to Auburn as little brother. Ever check the record since bear Bryant retired.? I thought you were more credible than to use Finebaum as a reference for anything. Ever check his record? Now tell me what did Sheridan say? Let me help you:

    1. He said he had an NCAA source who said they knew the Auburn bagman who who gave money to Cecil Newton's church. But wait I thought the NCAA didn't comment on such things. Does the NCAA have a special relationship with a gambler like Sheridan? The church stuff was checked out months ago. And is he better than the FBI in checking out such stuff?
    2. Sheridan said nothing would come out of it unless the supposed bag man came forward? What a joke.
    3. Sheridan said there was a 50/50 chance anything would come out of it. So he is CYA and strolling Finebaum. Since I have respected your credibiliry although we may differ on details, I'm surprised you would refer to Finebaum for anything.
So lets just note for the record that you believe what Sheridan/Finebaum say and Auburn is in trouble on the Cam issue, and let's visit it down the road. If you are right I will eat a ton of crow. May I assume the same from you?
